loco identity from the 1960s

Hi All,

In the early 1960s I persuaded my long suffering parents that an Easter Holiday in Wales would be a good idea and I trailed them round all of the Narrow Gauge that I could. I had just got a cheap (Boots) 35mm camera and snapped off at everything. I was recently looking through some old photographs and find that I can not identify this little loco. It was at that time on the Welshpool. Any ideas?

best wishes,

Ian

Ian,

It's the Sentinel Nutty.

I think it is Sentinel Works No 7701, built in 1929 using steam waggon components.  It was built to 2' 11" gauge, later regauged to 2' 6".  It was at Welshpol for a while, I think it is now at Leighton Buzzard.

He is my colour photo of it.

The loco nearest is called Nutty and an ex London Brick Company vertical boilered sentinel. It was on loan from the Narrow Gauge Museum to where it returned in the early 1970's. I think its in the Midlands now.

The smaller loco beyond is called Raven and was sold about 1973. I think it went to the Bromyard and Linton Railway. I'm not sure where it is now.
