Evening folks

I just wanted to confirm the date and location for our show in 2015. It will be held at The Minehead Eye again, close to  Minehead Station, so providing the best of both worlds. We have received our first bit of publicity in this month's Hornby Magazine conyained within  the article for a featured layout - "Snug End" by Graham Gatehouse. Graham brought another of his small layouts for its west country debut (The Shunting Puzzle) to this year's show in August, which invited members of the public to have a go, and at times they were lining up three deep!!! We also have commitments from quite a few other excellent layouts, so watch this space!

Evening all

Enjoyed the show at NEC this year and a couple of layouts from that show will be coming to Exmoor Rail next August! Full details will be announced in due course.

Also, the West Somerset Railway is holding its annual Steam Fayre on the same week-end as our show, so why not make a week-end of it? Plus you get beautiful Exmoor and the seaside thrown in for FREE!! What more could anyone want???!!!

Good evening good people!!

I thought some of you would be interested to know that Jamest's new layout "Bratton Lane", will be attending Exmoor Rail on 1st August, James has done an excellent job on this and will be sure to attract a lot of punters! This layout was inspired by a layout that attended our show last year, "The Shunting Puzzle" (see above), which proved to be extremely popular with many people wanting to "have a go".

See you there!

Evening all

I have been so busy lately after our house move, that I have now only had a chance to include a photo of JamesT's new layout - "Bratton Lane", that is coming to Exmoor Rail on 1st August this year.

Sorry to be so late with this.

After several attempts on different photos it won't let "upload this kind of file" - does anyone have an idea why? They were standard JPG files attached to an email in the normal way.

Thanks in advance!

Hello all

We're just awaiting one final layout confirmation and then we'll publish the full exhibitor list.

In the meanwhile I have included a photo of the venue of our Exmoor Rail exhibition on Saturday 1st August for those who may not have visited us before. It is just across the car park from the West Somerset Railway station in Minehead, which is right on the seafront. In addition we hope to have a banner on the front (over the entrance porch), to make it even easier to see! Unfortunately, we are not allowed to have the plane skywriting this year - no idea why.............

Hi everyone

Just a sneak preview at another excellent layout coming to Exmoor Rail on 1st August. This time it's Pixash Lane, built by an esteemed RMWebber!! This is a beautifully observed model based on the WR/BR lines near Bristol in the 1960s.

Hi David,

Just read though and noticed you had trouble uploading the photos I let you have.

Hope you don't mind but here they are (I can't remember the exact ones, but you'll get the idea)

Looking forward to August.

Bratton Lane OO shunting puzzle - inspired by last years shunting puzzle layout on show.

Looks like Exmoor Rail is going to be Kadee intensive...but seriously - they seem to be growing in popularity on British 4mm and I spend a lot of time at shows demoing the KDs while my mates are busy operating Pixash Lane!

Hi Gents

Many thanks for your contributions!

James - Yes I did have problems with the pics you sent - no idea why. I guess it wasn't "playtime"! So thanks again for posting some here.

Chris - You're right, Kadees do seem to be increasingly popular on British models now. I'll try to do a headcount at the show!

Evening everyone!

Just a couple of updates.

Firstly the Great Western Society have kindly agreed to come along and support us on the day.

Second, we have a little extra space this year, so our plan is to have a "micro-layout" room, in addition to the main hall.

The full layout list will be published asap - in other words, when I can snatch enough time on the PC between bouts of intense decorating in our new "pad".

In addition he will have information about commissions he can undertake for layout construction & stock weathering.

David Winter will also join us to demonstrate specifically, construction of wagons, complete with compensation, plus various wagon loads, primarily for use on his 4mm finescale layout Exmouth.

For those of you who don't know, the West Somerset Railway will be holding its annual Steam Fayre on the same week-end, so it's an ideal opportunity to take a short break in beautiful West Somerset, and visit us on the Saturday & the WSR on the Sunday!!! I can provide details of some very reasonable B&Bs as well (absolutely no connection with any I may recommend I should add), if anyone is interested, so please PM me.

Hi Folks!

Here's another shot of "Pixash Lane", which can be seen at Exmoor Rail in a couple of weeks time on Saturday 1st August.

Personally I think it's really nice to see a BR green diesel on a layout - modern image seems to prevail on many layouts these days - variety makes the world go round of course, it's just my personal preference. We do have 4/5 modern image layouts of course, so something for everyone we hope!

We have a larger programme this year - and still FREE!!!!, while stocks last of course. Proofread yesterday, so off to the printers etc.  Everything else is pretty much set - direction signs to go up shortly, together with our new banner, for which we have Local Authority permission!

Roll on Saturday week - 1st August, all are welcome.

Signs/banners are up - and got pretty wet doing it!!! Now under a week to go. Don't forget the WSR is holding its Steam Fayre next week-end as well. We have a lot of people who have a train ride from Bishops Lydeard to come and see the show, so it makes a great day all round.

See you there

The weather forecast seems reasonable for Saturday, so hopefully we should get a good crowd. Remember you can have a train ride on the WSR to arrive in Minehead, and then a two minute stroll to The Minehead Eye - still in sight of the real thing!

BUMP, BUMP - just 2 days to go now and off to the venue tomorrow for moving, marking & measuring. After all that work, we will be indulging in some delicious fish & chips - always good after the hard graft. Looking forward to welcoming all the exhibitors, demonstrators & traders who are supporting us, but especially the general public who helped make such a good atmosphere here over the past couple of years. In addition we will be awarding a special "plate", not for best layout, but an individual piece of modelling excellence. This will not be judged by anyone in our group, but by two independent judges - should be interesting!
