  1. Thank you Good Sir, it is not often that people complement my dung. Many thanks Matt. I do like the passion that we all have for the hobby, but in my opinion passion without humour can lead to extremism.

  2. Thanks Pete. Yes, I suppose the lost value would have been very negligible. And there was a time-honoured tradition of high loads of hay! Source: Getty Images, embedding permitted. Caption: 12th July 1946: A farmer brings in the hay on a farm at Hassocks in Sussex.

  3. I found that thread used for upholstery, in a local shop, works very well. The reel I used while rigging my S&DJR coasters was Gutermann CA 02779 - a milk chocolate shade. It is very tough and yet it is flexible, far more so than the button thread I initially tried. So far the rigging has shown no signs of sagging, although the ships are stored in an unheated garage, which can create a slightly damp atmosphere.

  4. Thanks Kris - good idea, never thought of that! I guess the only thing is you would still need to remove the roof to change the battery...unless the battery was housed under the chassis. Come to think of it, the battery and switch could have been housed under the chassis so no need to remove the roof

  8. Cracking video and stunning modelling. Have been holidaying on the Mid Wales coast for nearly 40 years, your street and back scene captures the Aberllefeni / Dinas Mawddwy / Bala area superbly.

  9. A great piece of video making. I really enjoyed seeing the low angle shots, the clarity was excellent. Very smooth running as well.

  11. Excellent. I really enjoyed the video. The slate walls of the cottages and other buildings are very convincing. I love the looming backscene which really evokes the scale of the mountains in the area especially with the cloudy forbidding sky. In particular I like the way you have integrated the backscene with the model at the top of the street. I could say so much more but it all looks great and leaves viewers in no doubt about which part of the world we are in.

  13. Great image! Hassocks is about 5 minutes away from where I grew up...maybe I was stuck behind this vehicle once

  14. Thanks Mikkel - yes some flickering I could live with as that is how I remember them...however this was just outright irritating as it was sparodic. Yes, there is only one BV as you say...it’s a 2032 battery I recall so quite common so it will be good to see how long it lasts...

  15. That's a nice glow in the lamp. I think I'd prefer the battery solution even without wiper issues, as it doesn't interfere with running (although if you've got a number of brake vans on a large layout it would be a bit cumbersome, but that's not your situation I think).

  17. Simply excellent and so well observed. I watched it twice. The view up the street at 0:59, the brooding scene at 2:03 and the details around the buffer stops at 5:36 were the highlights for me. Other than the shed it's looking finished, or are there plans for more?

  18. 2 of my favourite books are the 2 volumes of C.C. Greens 'Coast Lines of the Cambrian Railways' and this layout captures the atmosphere of the books so well. Absolutely loved the video, thank you for taking the time to do it. Terry
