RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted March 17, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 17, 2013 Hi Kit I used the Lima 117 as a basis many moons ago, they were still in service, just. You will need a set of drawings as all the coaches are different to those of the 117. See http://www.barrowmoremrg.co.uk/BRBDocuments/BRDMUIssue.pdf diagrams 588, 589 and 590 cover the 127 units. I never had drawings and my mum went to Bedford station and noted if there was a large window between the doors or two small windows. These photos of my old unit have been shown before but it was quicker to upload them again than finding a link to the thread they were on. The train MBS TS TS(L) TS again I did not change the underfloor equipment but the 117 and 127 were not the same. If you can get a copy of the Goulding DMU drawing book that has a drawing showing the engines etc.

RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted March 17, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 17, 2013 do the 127s not have a connection between coaches? Hi Kit When in service they did not. As kids my brother and I always wanted to sit behind the driver, we never did as mum had to travel in the coach with the loo, "just in case". I do not know if they have been fitted with gangways since being presevered. Many suburban DMUs, EMUs and loco hauled coaches were built without gangways. The WR added them to their stock (Classes 116. 117 and 118) from the late 60s. The other regions either withdrew the coaches without gangways in the 80s or refurbished them with gangways again in the 80s.
Guest jim s-w
Hi Clive All the 127 center cars Tysley ran were gangwayed. I dunno if Tysley fitted them but I do know they fitted them to the 116's and were pretty quick at it too. Cheers Jim
RMweb Premium MJI Posted March 25, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 25, 2013 I am sure some of them were non gangwayed, Platform 5 book says non gangwayed, can't see them on the video, and I do remember travelling on a TS NG set, surprised that I could not get to a different coach. I have a 115/127 trailer under construction for a Tysley 116, my Cardiff 116 is now waiting for warmer weather so I can paint it.
jonathan452
Noticed from the photo of Minories (and several comments) on the National Festival of Modelling (2015) thread that they now have a blue version.
