2mm ExpoFest - June 22/23 at Wallingford

I have today posted details of this year's 2mm Expo in the Exhibitions area of the forum;

http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/72031-2mm-expofest-2013-2223rd-june-2013-at-wallingford/

Highlights include Missy's 'Highclere' layout (hopefully with a guest appearance from a rock and roll legend!), 'St Ruth' (http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blog/595-st-ruth/) and 'Calne' (http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/20164-2fs-smokey-bacon/), 2mm narrow gauge in the form of 'Camard Newtown' from Brian Denton of the Oxford Area Group and a visitor from overseas in the form of Henk Oversloot's 'Splitveld Fabrik/Kleinhausen' (details here: http://www.2mm.org.uk/layouts/spitveld/index.htm). Jim Allwood's 'Welton Down' (http://www.2mm.org.uk/layouts/weltondown/index.html) will also be making a return to the exhibition circuit after a break of a few years, and last but by now means least are Ian Morgan's 'Freshwater' (http://bag.2mm.org.uk/) and Mark Cox's pre-grouping Midland Railway 'Witney Euston' (http://www.2mm.org.uk/layouts/witneyeuston/index.htm).

Trade will be present in the form of the 2mm Central Shop, Worsley Works, County Rolling Stock, N Brass Loco and Two MM Locomotives.

So, after all that, hopefully we'll have a good turnout of members and visitors. Various evening activities are being arranged for 2mm SA members, and it's shaping up to be a memorable weekend.

Hope to see a few of you there!

Andy

2mm Scale Association Secretary

  • 4 weeks later...

A few members of the Midland Area Group will be there with St. Ruth, I'm desperately trying to finish my GWR Saddle Tank so that we can have a change from all those diseasels  Hopefully, Andy's Manor and John's Collet Goods will also be available.

I could offer some more but on a terminus layout I forsee problems with my current coupling method

Stationmaster says he may put in an appearance. I hope to be there for part of the time. I might take you up on the offer of testing a loco Missy. I have one that has been on shed for a while.

Well its now just about a week to go now until Expofest and nothing on this thread!

Is anyone actually going? Its open to everyone, not just 2mmSA members...

Missy :)

Yep, I'm coming along, I shall be bringing a mix of narrow gauge stock for a canter on Camard Newtown.

I might also have my latest standard gauge project but I don't want to say a lot about that until it's actually running.  it's somewhat unusual...

Is that what you showed me the drawings to at that NG show?

No, it's something I started a few years ago that's gone down a number of blind alleys.  I think I have a workable solution now, thanks to Mr. Lawton...

I'm hoping to make it on the Sunday, sans Kim unfortunately due to her recent visit to the John Radcliffe hospital  (which all went well). I will, however, NOT be wearing my nurses uniform!

Jerry

Please pass my regards on to Kim. It will be nice to see you again though Jerry. Dont let me forget that book of yours either, although it wouldnt be too much trouble to pop back home and collect it!

It is always nice to see you as well as Stationmaster.

Thats one good thing about the 2mmSA, there are always opportunities to run things on other layouts. I have never come across a friendlier bunch of people than the members of the 2mmSA and what could be better than a relaxed, friendly show like Expofest.

Jane and I are intending to be there on Sunday. All best wishes to Kim, and thank you for the nurse's uniform image (bangs head in attempt to remove that brain cell).

Thanks Steve, be good to see you both. Evidently I have very good legs - its the rest that's a big disappointment!!

There are 3 main line passenger trains in the schedule that don't require any uncoupling in public, so provided that your method does actually couple and that there is some suitable stock you won't have a problem.

Jerry in a nurses uniform - where's the single malt! Does Simon Castens know??

A small gang of Bristol P4 gang are hoping to attend on Sunday to look and marvel with envy!

Glad to hear that Kim is on the mend.

Of course they couple. Coupling is harder than uncoupling. Suitable stock may not need be a problem...
