RMweb Gold 96701 Posted June 19, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 19, 2014 A few snaps at Rail Live 2014 at Long Marston on 19th June On the approach road after being dropped off by the coach that ferried us from the car park which was on Long Marston airfield. Now for some Twin Jib Cranes. Thankfully they seem to be making a comeback. I helped maintain them when they were first delivered. A Network Rail machine first. I have lots of detail shots if anybody wants me to post them. One of Colas's machines And another A brand new vegetation management road railer heading for the Shrewsbury patch A big Colas crane demonstrating it's capabilities by picking a shunter up A couple of general views A road rail Land Rover And finally, not part of the display, a shunting tractor

RMweb Gold 96701 Posted June 19, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 19, 2014 Jib No 1 above the powered bogie Jib No 2 above the trailer bogie The Rated Capacity Indicator (RCI) equipment on Jib No 1 Slew motor and gearbox on No 2 Jib Derrick cylinders on No 2 Jib. The black box that can be seen to the left of the derrick cylinder is the slip rings at the centre of the crane. View of Jib No 2 from the other side. I've not seen the item on the side of the superstructure before, I assume it measures the angle of the superstructure from the vertical for the RCI. Winch drum and hoist motor on No 2 Jib Couldn't open the cab door, so these are taken through the windows from the No 2 end (the one with the hydraulic tank and cooler). The fitting of the Weighload RCI has changed the desk (they were built with Ekco Safe Load Indicators), but the hydraulic controls are as fitted. Engine / ancilliaries control panel. Hydraulic tank, cooler and I think the other box contains the batteries. Finally, No 1 end and one of the traction motors and gearboxes.
