  1. I've a friend who works for GBRf and he's been covering DBC trains into and out of Newhaven Town yard on the fly ash.
  2. The same thing is happening here in Newhaven, Romanian drivers are driving lorries from the Port to Car factories in the West Mids. Heard from a source in the Port the tricks they get up to, using Motorway laybys as a place to cook a meal on the tractor unit is one story that springs to mind.
  3. 37506 arrived in the post today, this is my bargain buy of ebay. This will be sent away and resprayed as 37503 "British Steel Shelton" in work worn Railfreight grey.37506 by Simon Barnes, on Flickr As well as this I've got two more 37's being resprayed, one will be 37692 in Railfreight grey (part of Cardiffs Coal pool) and 37688 "Great Rocks" in Triple grey Construction livery.
  4. Thanks for the plug Jinty, Bescot TV will have to arrange a payment.
  5. Afternoon Dave, Great to hear from you, looking forward to seeing you nearer to Christmas mate. The weathering is Humbrol Coal black enamel paint thinned with thinners, applied as a wash and then I "pulled" the paint downwards when it was tacky with a piece of kitchen towel. I dry brushed the underframe with some Humbrol brick red to try and highlight areas of rust around the springs and axle boxes. The Thornaby fleet is expanding with a bargain of ebay and two 37/5 from our good friend and "enabler" Lee Bolger. See you soon mate Simon
  6. I've finally got around to weathering my MGR fleet, all 21 of them. grubby MGR by Simon Barnes, on Flickr grubby HAA by Simon Barnes, on Flickr 56122 ready to depart by Simon Barnes, on Flickr finally proof that Speedlink has a future Buoyant speedlink traffic by Simon Barnes, on Flickr Thanks for looking. Simon
  7. This is why we have such a good experience, our delivery chap is great and very friendly, if we are out, we don't have an issue with him leaving the package in our recycling boxes. My Father-in-law did have a lazy delivery driver who claimed he couldn't find the address after two attempts even though you can find them on a map or with a Sat-Nav.
  8. I've sent over 150 parcels with MyHermes and only had one problem that was resolved to my satisfaction, I'd much rather use them than Royal Mail and our local courier is a lovey friendly chap.
  9. I'd love a 58 Andi but they seem to go for silly money over on thiefbay, on the sound front you are spot on, the squeak of the HAA wagons would complete the scene
  10. A short 6 minute special that I've put together highlighting the MGR trains that run past the yard
  11. what kind of views are you after, sorry I missed your question.
  12. If it's keeping you on the edge of your seat Jinty, then "mission accomplished" Cheers Dave, some scenes were from your last visit , looking forward to seeing you at Christmas (hopefully with the family and new stock) Cheers Jeff, it's great to see people enjoying the hard work Mark,Dave (when he visits) and myself put in. There will be more to come with new locos making appearances.
  13. Octobers edition of "Pendeford Yard Today" has been uploaded and is available here
  14. Just so we're clear, I'm laughing at the "hole in the kitchen ceiling comment" , I could just imagine the reaction I'd get if this happened to me
  15. I know what you are going through, I've suffered the same problems over the years and I can't believe that it hasn't been fixed. Where possible I use paints from Halfords rather than using Railmatch as it's cheaper and more reliable. In future I'll try using some of the above tips to ensure I use a full can rather than just half a can.
  16. Andy, your layout really comes to life when you dim the lights and switch the lights on the layout on, Class 50 looks good as well.
  17. It's a nice part of the country and it's great living close to the sea.
  18. A great video Jinty, great set of sounds and lovely realistic driving, 9/10 (10 out of 10 would make you too cocky ) Regards Simon
  19. very useful Peter, I'll see about getting some of the above for the next 4 tonner I tackle.
  20. Morning Lee, I used to live in Pendeford back in 1999 to 2001 but I now live down south in Newhaven. Cheers Lee, you've made me blush mucker. Thanks Andi, trying slowly to get my fleet up to scratch.
  21. Morning Dave, no I hadn't thought about converting it to 901 or 902 but you've now put the idea into my head.
  22. 37905 has undergone a revamp, the body has been exchanged with the body from 37906 that I recently bought of Wickham Works Junction (Lee Bolger). The old body will be resprayed as 37906 in Triple Grey Metals livery and placed on the spare chassis. 37905 REVAMPED by Simon Barnes, on Flickr
