  1. Hi Jules Looking good. I think you're right about the roof, and moving the boiler house too. Looking forward to seeing this develop. Les
  2. Thanks to ginger, Alan, Scott and others for their kind comments, they are very much appreciated. A couple from today - A last chance to snap the horsebox before the shunting gets in the way! And a view behind the goods shed. The cattle wagon is rarely used at this time of year, and is stabled one road away from the dock. In Station Road the Seed Merchants / Iron Mongers has their wares on display.
  3. Branch regular 5358 brings the midday down train past Bishopscombe Jnc Shed with an unusual vehicle in the train - a Mk 1 horsebox from the Southern Region. Must be a very special horse! The train draws into Bishopscombe Station For some reason I just couldn't resit a green one of these - perhaps someone in the town is now running an exclusive racing stud!
  4. Hi Alan I think this looks good, I don't think I could even attempt this.... Les
  5. The Quarry shunter has come back from repairs at nearby Bishopscombe Jnc Shed, and is back at work. A Bachmann Junior, with some handrails, new buffers and some other odds and ends. Some more weathering required on the chassis, and windows. The chimney is a temporary measure - it's the end of a paintbrush! And in reality looks straighter than it does in these photos! I
  6. That's great Nick, I've put it my callender! Les
  7. Hi Jules This looks good, a dairy too - and why not - I can see the milk tanks now, lovely. Good to see the LMS lending a hand again! Les
  8. The quarry loader has at last got some steps. These were made from Wills plastic 'wood' sheet, each step cut out individually - yesterday I came across some ready made steps in my local art shop!!!!!!! Still they're done now, but not yet fixed as the background scenery is still receiving attention.
  9. Thanks Gary, here are some more b&w pictures, and a couple in colour. It would appear that Bishopscombe's population is starting to emerge! Mogul and Collet Goods in the yard. Shunting the mineral wagons. The quarry loader is now just waiting for some steps, these are under construction! The Goldup brothers pose for a photo in the brewery yard. The local gentry. Ready to depart from the quarry. More trees needed! The regular pick-up goods Time for a chat during shunting You can see that figure painting is not my forte - however I'm gradually improving, and I have lots of figures still to do! Also looking at the preview I can see it's time for a bit of 1:1 scale house keeping on the layout! Les
  10. A picture would be great, it was hard to beleive at the time! Les
  11. Saw this in Ruislip when attending a funeral nearby, so didn't have a camera handy. ....."Ruislip Lido - Overflow Car Park"
  12. Havn't seen a train yet this morning, but watching the person playing catch with thier dog on the beach whiled away the time in a nice way! Les
  13. The 'road end' of one of the narrrow gauge lines laid to bring fish asore from boats at Dungeness beach. .
  14. Hello ginger Thanks. The shed is the Bachmann Scenecraft stone one, it was one of the first things I bought for the layout and has been 'plonked' there ever since the track was laid, with nothing further done to it - although I still have plans to enhance it's apeareance at some stage! Les
  15. Branch regular 2259 arrives from Bishopscombe Jnc Shed to collect wagons for the up pick-up goods, including an empty Royal Daylight tank from the fuel depot. The train takes shape An empty mineral wagon need to be returned with this train, but of course a full one needs to be moved first! Eventually we're on our way The train passes a quiet Bishopscombe Jnc Shed
  16. RHDR No 5, Hurcules, with a train to Hythe at Half Mile Curve, 2nd may 2009.
  17. Thanks very much for the kind comments Nick. Re the photos, I probably do spend too much time in the railway room with the camera, and not enough time modelling! Les
  18. Hi Alan More great pics. The grass look good - put's mine to sahame! I think wiring the fences is a good idea, but must confess I've put off that job on Bishopscombe from day one! The shot of the signal box / bridge section looks superb. Les
  19. Wow, those canopies look great, really 'makes' the station. I like the B&W images, and the MN seen through the station is nice. Always enjoy seeing this layout. 3rd rail, and EPB trundling up the branch...hmm Les
  20. Hi Jeff It's Carr's fine 4mm ballast, I havn't kept the jar, but I think it's thier 'light brown' variety. It dried a bit lighter than it looked i the jar, but I'm sort of stuck with it now (no pun intended!). Les
  21. Some more photos from the 'Combe. Railtours, quarry workings, and horse power.. Back on June 13th lagre prairie 6132 was spotted away from home at Bishopscombe Junc Shed. It turned out to be a trial run for the RCTS railtour which visited the branch yesterday. Here a slightly cleaner 6132 brings the tour towards Bishopscombe. Having run round 6132 shunts the train back into the platform. During the day 6132 visited Bishopscombe Quarry for a clearence test, maybe a brake van tour is planned? 56xx tanks have been appearing on some quarry workings, here is 6671 , seen in the relaese siding, and later departing with its train. On another day 5660 brings the minerals into Bishopscombe to reverse. And finally the brewery yard, As in many small towns, horses are still being used for local deliveries.
  22. An update on the quarry - most of the groundwork is now done, and some 'experimental' buliding has taken place. So, in a nutshell here's the extention progess in photos. The down empties pass Bishopscombe Jnc Shed on thier way to Bishopscombe to reverse The loco runs the brake van round Back up to Bishpscombe Quarry The loco runs into the release siding The Western Region have kindly 'lent' a new shunter to the Quarry company while thier own loco is in the works (on my bench!) The shunter collects the wagons The wagons arrive for loading The quarry can be shunted reomtely using the magenet & staple method, shown here. It may look a little untidy to some, but it works for me. I can shunt all seven wagons and the brake van while sitting across the room. A general view. The loading 'building' is made from some corrugated card, and the supports from evergreen section. The conveyor is just mounting card, with scalescenes corrugated steel card on the sides. Another general view. The scenery still needs a lot more work, but I'm pleased with it so far! Regards
  23. And it's raining too, shows how useful the modern headlamps are!
  24. Tenterden, October 2007 Austin Counties car club rally - held here every October. A great day for combining two of my favorite things! (my Devon is the one on the right).
