  1. Morning Jules Some great shots again, the B&W ones look especially good. Forgive me if you have posted already - but may I ask what sort of camera you have used for these? I use my SLR for most shots, but it can't get into all the places on the layout that I'd like. A nice low angle of the arriving freight too. Les
  2. A few more shots from Bishopscombe. I thought I'd tray and get some shots of the shed interior. This is proving difficult due to the lack of light! However I've managed to get a couple - so here they are (plus a couple of others). A view down Station Road Some natural daylight catches the Mogul Regards, Les
  3. Hi Alan, the stream looks fantastic, and I too like the 'tufts' of grass. Les
  4. The black and white shot looks great. I love the platform lamps too. Looking forward to more pics etc from the PR team! Les
  5. Hello Ray The yard office looks great, as does the coal office. Great photos too. Regrds, Les
  6. Thanks to Don and Sidecar for thier comments. I have taken some more shots of the Brewery - another layout cliche!. It was to have served just as a scenic break but seems to have taken on a life of ots own! I think the trusty Metclafe kit can be made to look ok with a little weathering and gutters/downpipes etc. A busy scene as some more hops arrive, and the Old Man's beer waiting to be put in the bot of his car. The 'back' of the Brewery. The fiddle yard is in the distance. This will eventually be hidden from this angle by the quarry extention backscene. This was taken with the camera hard against the wall - so I couldn't see through the viewfinder! A colour shot along the lane Finally anothe loco shot outside the shed. I am currently working on some more interior detail for the shed, and should have some pictures later this week. Regards, Les
  7. Alan Terrific shots. I like the angle you've managed with the bubble car, nice weathering too. I don't think I can resist the tempation of a 22 for much longer! Les
  8. Some more pics of Bishopscombe, one taken a while ago so the eagle eyed may notice some slight differences! As an excuse not to build any more signals for a while I've bought some fine stainless steel wool, and with some flock /scatter I will try and make some more realistic bushes atc for Bishopscombe. If this turns out OK I may have a stab at some D-I-Y trees - the materials are on my shopping list for the Tonbridge show! Anyway here's some more black & white shots............... 5660 heads up the branch in search of goods at intermediate stations. The guard must be cursing as he's had the bad luck to get a draughtbox instaed of the usual Toad. The front of Bishopscombe Brewery. Heading into Bishopscombe Station. Those trees have been seen to! Apologies for the poor quality here, but it was 1959! Regards, Les
  9. Good Morning – just! I remember saying that I would draw a plan of Bishopscombe – so here is a very rough sketch to give the overall layout. It shows the proposed Quarry extension from Bishopscombe Junction. This represents a stone quarry that only has a trailing connection towards Bishopscombe – thereby requiring all full and empty trains to reverse at Bishopscombe. The motive power for this extra traffic is catered for by Bishopscombe Jnc. Shed - I have worked out that the stone train diagram will require three locos. I'm just off to the Canterbury Exhibition, but just time to squeeze in a couple of photographs. 6671 arriving with van train Some time later the shunting is done Regards, Les
  10. Lovely photos - I do like the weathering on the 63XX - very nice. Les
  11. Both powered by steam! RHDR No3 passes Dungeness power station
  12. Thanks for the comments everyone - I promise I will draw a plan soon! In the meantime here is 5358 with a down passenger to Bishopscombe. Some shots are taken from higher than normal to try and give a general idea of the layout. 5358 runs down the embankment from the canal. .......towards the cutting through Bishopscombe Common ...and out of the cutting.. ...to it's destination. I must fix that backscene! And those big buildings will probably be replaced by some more terraced shops. Regards, Les
  13. Thanks for the comments evryone. Jules I'm glad you like the black and white, I think the layout takes a better picture in monchrome. Nigel, I will try and scan a track plan. Overall Bishopscombe is roughly 20' x 3' plus a fiddle yard of just under 8', around three sides of the room. It has taken nearly two years to geet to this stage. Les
  14. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/uploads/monthly_01_2012/post-10377-0-62853400-1326486921_thumb.jpg Hello. I have posted to a couple of themes here on RMweb in the past, but have now decided to post a thread for ‘Bishopscombe’- my first 00 layout. This layout is my first attempt at any railway modelling since I was sixteen! As many people comment in my situation, things have changed a lot in the last 30+ years! (I have spent a lot of those years building 1:76 white metal London buses)….. Anyway, Bishopscombe is a small end to end with an ex GW branch line terminus at one end. Probably the most clichéd of ideas, but I grew up near the GW main line out of Paddington, so the loco’s and stock all have a familiar feel to them. It’s code 75 throughout and is DCC. Point operation is by a mixture of Peco and (pre soldered!) Seep motors, the latter mainly for the three way point – and to compensate for my limited soldering abilities. It is housed in a 10’ x 8’ room at one end of the attic, with just one small window at one end. The layout is not portable. Much of Bishopscombe was built before I discovered RMweb, but there is still a lot to do – and to replace / improve – as I learn more. . Signalling is the next job, though I have found building working bracket signals too much at this stage – so those in situ so far are merely cosmetic. The layout is set in 1959, although some early sixties bits have crept in. So for now I’ll try and upload some images, some are black and white – the room gets little natural daylight and has to be lit by fluorescent light, so even allowing for white balance adjustments ‘in camera’ the colours can seem a bit too strong. Regards, Les A view from the hill Passenger arrival Station view Goods yard Ready to depart - shouldn't the fireman do something about that lamp! Bishopscombe Junction Shed The line passes Bishopscombe Junction Shed Nearing Bishopscombe Junction.....
  15. Hi Jules More great pics. I like the details on the Autocoach. I too uncouple using whatever I can, thick card strips or plasticard! I have settled on small Bachmann style couplings for now on Bishpscombe, and I find I can get Hornby ones the same size too. Mayshill might just be the thing to get me taking some more pictures and maybe start a thread! Les
  16. That's a really nice set of pics, the backlight can be a problem - but these look great to me! Les.
  17. I'm really enjoying the progess here, especially the developing scenery, looks great. Regards, Les
  18. Hi Scott, just came across these latest pictures. The layout is looking good, especially the yard shots - as you say this could be a layout in itself! I particularly like the scenic colours. Looking forward to seeing the branch terminus developments. Regards, Les
  19. Bishopscombe Junction Shed gets a glamourus visitor (the Grange - not the fitter!)
  20. Another from Bishopscombe Jnc Shed, the end of the line for 2244
  21. Clarke_T, An inspired shot of that Western! Here's one of my efforts. RHDR No 8 'Hurricane' Les [ attachment=105792:steamed_up.jpg]
  22. Hi Scott Fascinating to see the layout develop, and the depot shots are excellent. I am intrigued by the standpipes / hydrants with what looks like solder for the hoses, were these scratch built? Great detail and atmosphere, looking forward to more!
