  1. I used to partake in sea angling many years ago When we had a house in a County Cork, and came second in the Munster open sea angling competition with a pair of fish. one of them was a 12.5 Lb Sea Bass, the other was a 1lb mackerel that it had eaten. I would have come first, had a friend of mine not kicked the bass in the stomach forcing its dinner to regurgitate. It was the only time I’ve ever won a fishing trophy, and got to eat the winnings! mind you my mate Sam didn’t look like yours!
  2. P1 was an interesting beast - massively over powered with its boosters working - I believe so much so that they couldn't find enough weight for it to haul and still stop in safety! I suspect you've seen this interesting model floating around RM Web?
  3. You forgot the rest : ”.... of utter mediocrity”
  4. one of my favourite names - for no reason other than that I like it is Lucky Mucklebackit - LNER D11/2
  5. I’m going to nominate the MetroVick CoBo
  6. Steam failures or diesel Gilbert, or both?
  7. Really impressive David - very atmospheric! Peter
  8. You've got the moorland beautifully - very emotive!
  9. I know you're all thinking about it, so here's a treat...
  10. The trees are excellent Dave - I'd be interested to see a tutorial on how you make them? ATB Peter
  11. Given how many ticks are required my guess is Class 37
  12. Although I can struggle to tell the difference between BB and WC I'm afraid I'm going for Bulleid's Pacifics in both their forms.
  13. Ian - thanks for pointing out the error - I used the pics based on an erroneous caption and have now amended! ATB Peter
  14. So I'm going to be high controversial here and propose the DB Class 50 (now with the correct pic!) Not to be confused with the Class 52, a Kriegslock machine, of which many of the 6.700 were produced using slave labour, even though this was the design on which it was based a, the Class 50 enjoyed a very long and successful life with over 3,100 being made and ending up widely distributed across Eastern Europe Wikipedia has an interesting story about the class - in terms of sheer numbers and longevity it knocks the socks of anything mentioned so far... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DRB_Class_50 Gets hat and leaves rapidly
  15. Much as I love the B1, I'm afraid I'm going to go for the black five. Apart from being one of the most prolific and versatile MT designs, 90% of the DNA of the Riddles version comes straight from Stanier's creation.
  16. It’s very pretty Rob, but is it the right colour? I thought BR blue was close to GER blues which was close to Navy?
  17. If the EMD was classified as a streamliner then surely the same could apply to any bonneted diseasel? Funnily enough one could argue that the best looking streamliner on British rails os our trusty friend the HST, except that's not steam either!
  18. Another vote for the French Monstrosity de moi, and not just because it is French, but because it is truly ugly !
  19. All those years watching Monty, Rachel and Alan, and the boy's learned nothing - must be getting old - we even have some ni our garden, but not as floribundant as yours!
  20. Well I don't mind supporting him once more...
  21. Are they camellias? If so much later than ours which finished over a month ago!
  22. Quick and easy answer for that one Gilbert! go out into the garden, choose the furthest away bit of your lawn and the back door that you can, and dig a hole about 3 inches across and perfectly round. Insert an empty baked bean tin, make good the holes around the tin, then go back and use it as a practice hold to get some time in on your short game. After doing that all afternoon, you will have reminded yourself of the total frustration it is known as golf, part of which includes booking yourself in on the wrong day! Simples!
  23. Well I don't mind supporting him once more...
  24. Well I don't mind supporting him - does this count btw?
