  1. Sorry everyone I havnt been on here recently as I havnt had too much time for modelling except at my club. The loch is now is primer and just needs painting and lining, together with name and number. Some smaller details also need to be added but basically complete.
  2. Its been many weeks since i have been on and added an update on the glendevon extension so.... the layout has been ballasted and wired up to allow test runs and the points are all motorised and work very well, a few niggling gremlins but this is the way of the world. work continues on the scenics but the backscene needs finishing before this can really be done and finished.
  3. Hello everybody, i haven’t been on rmweb much of late as i have been working and had little time for modelling of any kind, which is life... ive finally decided to get my finger out and get on with something, and something different at that. I usually model lner and north british loco’s but, i have decided to do something new. i have decided to have a go at a highland railway loch in original condition but in lms crimson. I came across a photo of my namesake loch garry in a colourised photo and it looks beautiful. I am planning to use parts from the Oxford adams radial tank for the conversion but need plans to do the rear end of the loco. Now being mainly a north british man im unsure who to ask for plans. Does anyone by any chance have, or know of someone who has or does a 4mm scale drawing of a loch. many thanks, gary
  4. Here is my latest, 64A based j35 64519 from a djh kit i got for nothing, there were many missing parts but its all done now. Had the loco running with 40 minerals behind and the loco hauled them well but the centre axle needs to have some tweaking.
  5. I have a Hornby 700 which i have converted into a nbr j37, on which the motor failed earlier this evening. I have scoured every site including a certain well known auction site ad cannot find a replacement. Is there another Hornby motor which will fit this loco’s chassis or will it be a mashima (or similar) job to replace it? Any advice would be welcome. Gary Patterson
  6. A very merry Christmas to everyone. Gary Patterson
  7. Yes she’s a very good runner, much better and smoother than my kit built j37’s. The only issue is weight, or i should say WAS as the loco now has pieces of lead and lead shot in every space available. If she hauls a train this length then im more than happy. As for the loaded minerals, these belong to another club member and they were borrowed for the shots i took ( the coal loads were accidentally glued in at the peebles pva factory) Gary
  8. I haven’t been on rmweb much recently due to one thing or another...... anyway heres a few videos i have taken of my converted Hornby railroad a1’s into a3’s. And they run very nicely with new 5 pole morors. All have been converted from right to left hand drive and have replacement tenders, chimneys and deflectors etc. Also i managed to do two of them for a lot less cost wise than the full fat models, they also are heavier and pull more. Also included are some short videos of other loco’s on the latout. 60100 spearmint 60099 call boy, apologies as the phone died halfway through shooting. 60085 manna 65345 on the pick up goods
  9. And here is my finally complete conversion of a Hornby class 700 into a j37, 64602 of dundee tay bridge. Quite how it’s on the waverley route is anybodys guess. Now that i now know i can make the conversion work I plan on doing others when time allows. Gary
  10. thank you all for the replies about this they have been very useful, we have went to her local in dundee and found a book by the afore mentioned n ferguson which has provided a lot of good information. gary
  11. evening everybody. my other half is doing a project on the history of Dundee's transport, she is covering aspects or road, rail, sea and air. one aspect that we are trying to find information on is the Dundee rail system and in particular the Dundee and newtyle railway. we have found some information, partly from publications and railscot, and also tonight a visit to the Dundee club which she found very useful for information on the history of the main routes and stations etc. we are wondering if there is any more specific information on the route and stations etc that existed on the route. can any rmwebber help, any information would be greatly appreciated. gary
  12. Yes i also enjoy shunting glendevon, ofcourse at a show its busier that clapham junction to keep something moving, which is part of the reason this extension is being made in order to make it a little more balanced as at the moment if the station is full with freight and passenger workings there is very little happening at the fiddle yard end save for shunting the brewery siding. We are aiming to have it conplete by next year. Mind you we said that last year but its certainly getting closer. Gary
  13. Yea the coping stones will be added as soon as time permits. I intend to use the same foam i used on the bridge walls as its easy to work with and also easy to paint. The platform will also be similarly done. Yes indeed an NB water column would be most useful. I had intended to use a skaledale lner platform mounted example but theses are now hard to find and when you do find them theyre going for stupid money. So yes and that way itd match the other ones on glendevon. Gary
  14. The static grass is mainly by serious play on ebay i find the colours are quite good, im going for the summer turning to autumn look and to me its starting to look like this. Gary
  15. Some more work has been done over yhe weekend on the extension for glendevon, some trees have been test planted and the station fencing has been added also.
  16. Here is my latest project which had been many month in the making, ive been working and not had as much time as i would like for modelling but we do what we can.... A couple of years agoi picked up a pdk glen kit for £60ish and the dundee shows swap meet room. There were a few parts missing but nothing that was too difficult to make. 62483 Glen Garry. I have done the cab detailing this time with seats full back head detail and sliding windows etc, you cant really see all this with the crew in but i know its there so itll do me.
  17. I think that may be a troop train behind 835, the same train appears in the britains lost mainline dvd with ron white. Gary
  18. Some more work adding the final part of the platform and adding more static grass to enhance the autumn look. Gary
  19. Thanks thats just the one i was looking for, i got hold of a Bachmann derby lightweight at the perth show this year and, ive seen shots of blue liveried examples taken near st boswells, newcastleton and at carlisle citadel but wanted to see a shot of one in green which this is. Gary
  20. Has anyone got a shot of a derby lightweight runing between carlisle and hawick or wise versa. Gary
  21. Some more progress on the extension with more work being undertaken on the landscape and the bridge finally planted into the layout. We are going for a late summer-early autumn with lots of colours in the mix to add variety. The base level of grass is done. There is longer grasses etc coming in the post, together with hedging and more trees, the layout will be very heavily wooded with thick groups of trees along the rear and at both ends of the layput but these again will be varied in size type and colour to give the autumn look. The footbridge has also been competed material wise and just needs painting but this will be done later.
  22. Very nice indeed, its always good to see another nb loco, i too have finally completed my j37 which began life as a southern loco. I had her eunning at the cupar show over the weekend, complete with headboard. Gary
  23. I am looking into making up a Gloucester 2 car dmu as used in and around edinburgh in the 50’s and 60’s. Was the dmu ever covered in the railway modeller drawn and described etc. I know model railway news did at one point but cant remember which year/month. Gary Patterson
