  1. Does anyone know the spec for the sound fitted version? I'm not sure whether to go with Bachmann's sounds or fit something like Legomanbiffo.
  2. Are there any photos of this train? It sounds like the excuse I need to buy one of these.
  3. Does anyone know where I might find clear, preferaby side-on photos of the PTA bogie tippler wagons used on the 1970s Redcar-Consett ore trains? I'm hoping to compare the livery and lettering with the forthcoming Accurascale models to see whether modification would be feasible. So far I've only come across this site which has a lot of useful information but no clear images. Paul Bartlett's website doesn't seem to cover the Consett examples. Any advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Liam
  4. Strathclyde PTE orange and black Northern Spirit Class 158 style Express livery with original branding
  5. Are there any photos of these in ICI use?
  6. Just to follow up on this thread; there are detailed 4mm scale drawings of this wagon in 'Railway Wagon Plans - 1960s to the Present' by John L. Fox. ISBN 978-0711038431.
  7. Fantastic weathering you've achieved there. Can I ask whether you had any issue with the white spirit affecting the factory-applied finish on the models? Unfortunately I managed to spill isopropanol on one of mine and it removed a patch of silver from the barrel within a few seconds! This surprised me, as I've previously found that isopropanol needed a long soak to remove any sort of factory-applied paint by other manfuacturers. I suppose it could be due to the finish being metallic. Hopefully I can cover it up with some strategically placed cement strains...
  8. Out of interest, where is the lighting on the prototype ploughs and what purpose does it serve?
  9. Does anyone know where I can find any further information on this wagon? So far all I've been able to find is a single photograph in David Larkin's 'BR Departmental Rolling Stock' (1979) and the BR diagram 1/569 on the Barrowmore mrg website. I'd be interested to find out the background of this design and hopefully pull together enough details for a model. Unftortunately it seems to have been rather obscure. Many thanks Liam
  10. Can anyone identify the two tank wagons nearest the loco in the pictures attached? The caption states that the train comprises 'two empty nitric acid tanks from Sellafield to Ince & Elton' and four other empty tank wagons. I haven't found anything so far on the usual websites (Paul Bartlett etc.). Thanks Liam
  11. Does anyone know where I can find Hybox axleboxes in 4mm? The ones I'm after are the plain flat ones as per this photo (https://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/grampuszbv/h1464A390#h1464a390). Thanks Liam
  12. Thanks for your replies. I've informed the supplier of the issue and they've offered to send some replacements.
  13. So it it literally just pot luck when you buy a pack of bearings? Virtually all the ones I have seem to have this problem, and they came from at least three different suppliers.
  14. Perhaps an obvious question, but one I can't seem to find an answer to. Does anyone know why most 2mm brass 'pinpoint' bearings don't seem to come to a true 'pin' point? Recently I've been taking my first steps in P4 wagon building, and I've found that all the bearings I've sourced from various suppliers seem to end in a small flat surface at the innermost point, rather than coming to a true pinpoint. This allows the axle to wander rather than holding it firmly parallel, and to my eyes does not give a good result. By contrast I have some other brass pinpoint bearings left over from my 00 days which came packaged with Romford 00 wheels. These do come to a true pinpoint and the results with these are excellent with the axles held firmly in place and free to rotate. Am I missing something? And does anyone know where I can buy bearings which do end in true pinpoints? Thanks Liam
  15. Does anyone know where I can find scale drawings of the LMS/BR 'Haddock' and 'Sole' sleeper wagons? I'm thinking of attempting a scratchbuild. Thanks Liam
  16. Hi All, I'm looking for as many details as I can find regarding the green TTA tank wagons used by BP for aviation fuel traffic; the same ones which were the subject of a Model Rail limited edition a few years ago. After several years away from modelling I've decided to try my hand at building something in P4. I hope these wagons will make a good conversion and detailing project, based on the Bachmann RTR model with etched walkways and brake details etc. I have some Brunninghaus springs and etched replacements for the molded Bachmann brake levers, but there seem to be quite a few prototype differences which these parts don't capture. For example, the vehicle here looks more or less similar to what Bachmann have depicted, apart from the springs: https://ukrailwaypics.smugmug.com/UKRailRollingstock/T/TTA-2-axle-tank-wagons/i-8gh5Wb7 Whereas the example here seems to have a different arrangement with V hangers: https://ukrailwaypics.smugmug.com/UKRailRollingstock/T/TTA-2-axle-tank-wagons/i-3dtTGvj Does anyone have any more detail shots or info regarding these wagons, or know whether any other detailing products are available? The terminology surrounding brake gear etc. still goes mostly over my head at this point which doesn’t help! Many thanks Liam
  17. The paint job is a tough call for me since they're pretty scruffy in most of the photos. That aside, the models looks excellent - well worth the wait.
  18. Yep, it seems like forever since they were announced. Hopefully they'll be worth the wait. If Bachmann's 2-EPB is anything to go by then they will be!
  19. Inspiring Stuff! Looks even better than a Bachmann one.
  20. Hi Roy, Great minds think alike. I converted a Bachmann Seacow to a Stingray recently with a DCC decoder and lights under the canopies - a bit like an old-tech version of what you're doing then! The plan is to run wires to another two non-Stingray wagons to have a set of three with lights. Looking forward to seeing more of this. Liam
