I have noticed these in numerous photos and videos. I think these were InterCity liveried coaches that were painted over in Regional Railways colours, but to the InterCity template. None seemed to get the 'Regional Railways' titles, though.

For most of us that would mean starting all over again, after already spending a lot of time and money buying the ones produced by Farish, in the hope that they finally produce the remaining ones that people require.

I will look into the accurascale versions, so thank you for that.

I just don't see why Farish can't look at their own sales and feed the demand.

As for virgin livery, not everyone is modelling the same layout/era that you are.

There are plenty of folk out there who want to run virgin liveried rakes. Especially behind the IC and virgin liveried 90's.

Don't get me wrong about the Virgin ones - I know there will be plenty of demand for them and I certainly hope for those that do model the late 90s that they are made. I think Farish would be mad not to release some this year.

I have quite a few of the blue/grey MK2As by Farish, but I would certainly still welcome some more (whether A, B and/or C) from Accurascale. I still personally wouldn't replace my Farish ones, though. It would be great to add more versions for variety.

Looking at the ridiculous prices of rolling stock on the likes of eBay makes me worry that the same thing will happen again - box shifters will buy them all up, and we will have no choice but to either pay double or wait endlessly for another batch. Which will no doubt arrive in a different paint shade.

It's all very well making new loco's and novelty items, but there is obviously a very strong market of modellers wanting realistic rakes, which is seemingly ignored by Graham Farish.

I mean, where is the mk2 bfk in regional railways, a RB(r) in blue/grey for wcml layouts, a weathered CK in blue/grey, more batches of tso's in RR, blue/grey and intercity, or anything in virgin livery?

"Very interesting things in the pipeline" really doesn't fill me with confidence.

Accurascale have had plenty of feedback on their N gauge survey suggesting MK2 coaches (particularly MK2B/C), so maybe we will start to see some of this stuff in the absence of Farish producing such staple items. I agree with most of your suggested subjects, with the exception of Virgin since I personally draw the line at about 1994.

    HI

There are old style containers in the C Rail range that suit the period you want to model.

I cant see me doing that container in N gauge just yet .

    Regards Arran

I bought a variety of the older N gauge ones already and they are great.

Even if a fair way into the future, it would still be great to see some of these style ones, though.

  5. Given the continued lack of attention to 'staple' coaching stock and the rare runs of TSOs that fly off the shelves within days/weeks when they are released once every several years, I really hope other manufacturers step in with some offerings such as MK1, MK2B/C and perhaps MK2D. At least the alternative MK2 variants would offer a little more variety, just in case Farish ever to decide to do another run of MK2A and MK2F.

As someone mentioned the lack of a 'Dutch' 31 earlier, this is something I was discussing with another fellow of this parish recently. Still no 31s or 47s in Dutch, yet 3 different 37/0s done to date, as well as one in departmental grey.

That said, I'm pleased to see 20172, 31130 and 31423 - all of which I am likely to take.

  6. Interesting to see that the BR Olive Green 12T ventilated van (373-704) delivered a few months ago, originally advertised as '12T Ventilated Van Plywood Doors BR Departmental Olive Green' turned into an exact re-release of 373-702A from 2003, i.e. a planked doors version with no differences at all.

Agreed, along with an Intercity Mainline 37/4, surely the main 2 liveries the class carried not yet done on the new tooling. Hopefully if the first batch sell well we can get another regional edition in N gauge

Agreed. A late 80s 37/4 in Intercity Mainline with white numbers would be great.

    Not just us then.

Yes I think I did mention actually. I thought it would be interesting to see if this had been a problem with a few people but maybe we were just unlucky?

I’ve got one of the earlier 6 pin ones (33102) and dare I say it, it’s probably one of my most reliable locos and if I was going to get another one I’d be tempted with an earlier model.

I also have two of the 6-pin ones and, like yours, they are great runners. They were poor with the factory-fitted decoders, but once I replaced those with Zimos, they were great.

Back to the subject of the Next18 versions, when mine stopped working I seem to recall it made a very brief shorting sound before it stopped. Do you recall whether yours did the same?

  9. I have experienced the same with 33114, also a Next18 version from the same batch.

I remember someone (yourself?) posting about this a few months ago and I asked whether you got it sorted, but I don't think there were any further replies to that thread.

I guess mine will be heading to DCC Supplies on my next visit to the UK, so I can expect a similarly hefty bill if indeed it is the same issue. Disappointing.

And it looks like my patience has been rewarded! I'll certainly be taking numerous 20/40 footers to sit on my KFAs and FSA/FTAs - particularly the older style ones.

I was asked for some info on my old Hornby and lima mk2s. I thought I would share the pics here.

I find a painted interior and flush windows really helps these coaches  look a bit Better.

Is M5364 a prototypical running number for the blue/grey Trans-Pennine branded coach? I am looking at branding a couple of N gauge ones like this, but the only running numbers I have found mentioned anywhere are 5323 and E5520. Thanks.

I am doing early 90s Scotrail so waiting on the RR mk2s which I will rebrand to Scotrail. They aren't offering a BSO or BFK in RR though which means I may have to respray or use something inaccurate. Also waiting on the 158 and cant get a Provincial 156 (Dapol) as they are absolute hens teeth. I managed to get a pair of Power Cars in Swallow mind by being lucky and the green 26 pair by fluke. Its proving to be a long haul job just sourcing the right N stock as others are finding. I will persevere though and refuse to go to the easy access 4mm scale as with 12ft I would be running half length trains or looking at another TMD layout.

I like the sound of your plans.

I'm planning to use some of the Regional Railways MK2A TSOs to customise to Provincial livery, i.e. the lower grey band to be resprayed to InterCity beige and 'Trans-Pennine' branding to be added to some. The missing pieces will be the MK2A FK and MK1 BG, though.

There's clearly a demand for these coaches - £80 for a Mk2s TSO on eBay isn't uncommon now. I really don't understand why Bachmann couldn't tag a few blue/grey examples onto the batch of Regional Railways, RTC and Scotrail that are being produced next year.

In the mean time, I'll continue to hope that Revolution Trains borrow Accurascale's homework and down-size the Mk2b.

    I agree with both points.

A blue/grey MK2A TSO is an absolute staple and a quick-selling limited run every half a decade is clearly not enough to satisfy customer demand.

I also hope another manufacturer takes on the MK2B/C, as even if Farish did, you can bet the releases will be few and far between.

The painted on false windows weren't uncommon:

Courier vans (BSK conversions) received the same painted windows:

Royal Mail livery appears to be the only one they were applied to.

    Steven B.

Indeed. They were pretty standard on that livery. My question was more around whether any/many did not have them painted on, as per the Farish model.
