  2. Some good stuff here for me. I will go for the Railfreight Distribution 37/0 & 47, Mainline 47, weathered blue/grey MK1 SKs and BSK with ScotRail branding, InterCity MK1 RMB and the SR 50ft Bogie B Luggage Van in Departmental livery.

     

    I may also pick up the Hebridean MK2s if any retailer decides to split the sets.

     

    I will resist the refurbished 31s this time around, but may pick one up a bit later.

     

    I think it was a good call producing the Network Rail yellow 31 and another 37, as the crazy prices the last 37 was going for on eBay must have been a source of frustration for those who missed it last time around.

  3. Large Logo 37407 (non-DCC fitted) just sold on eBay for 133 quid plus shipping. The prices these fetch will only go up as people realise it is the only way they will get them, much like the Network Rail yellow ones.

     

    I really hope another Large Logo 37/4 run is done.

  4. A fresh run of Blue Large Logo 37's, either another 37/4 or a unrefurbished example like 37262 would be welcome. Better still a set including a Class 101 observation car would be nice.

     

    37407 sold out very quickly and what few still appear often are going for crazy prices now.

     

    Absolutely agree about another Large Logo Blue 37/4. I hesitated a bit too long on this one and regretted it. Another run of these with a different number would be very good and I would not hesitate for a moment this time.

     

    It is also clear from the second-hand prices that they are fetching that another run of Network Rail yellow 37s would also be popular (although not for me personally).

     

    Some more 47 liveries would also be good, e.g. Railfreight Grey, Railfreight Red Stripe, Railfreight Distribution (original triple grey), Trainload Metals/Construction/Petroleum, Civil Engineering 'Dutch', etc. Popular liveries - most of which have been done on the 37 but none on the 47 yet.

  5. Great layout. I enjoyed reading the last few pages of progress.

     

    37104 looks a beauty. I have been considering commissioning this in N gauge for some time and will most probably go for it at some point. I always liked the RF General sector markings and already have a weathered 86/5 in this livery.

    Quite a few others, even if you exclude all the relatively recent DRS ones -  which had filler basically stuffed into the old headcode panels (and surely attractive to the modern image modeller - 47790 anybody?).

     

    I've converted 47535 into 47614, but needs quite a bit of re-painting including removal of the orange cant-rail stripe. 47458 was large logo too, but "Crewe cut" at one end, not a difficult mod though.

     

    Others that were flush front both ends at some point were 47102, 47299 and I believe 47190. Maybe one or two I have forgotten on top of that...

    I had mine changed from 47535 to 47458 - see my avatar picture. Nice job by Mercig Studios, as usual.

  7. I guess 47522 'Doncaster Enterprise' was a good excuse to re-use the mould for the 'flush front both ends' as previously used for 47535.

     

    There are not many other options for that, and I'm sure another large logo blue number on the same mould wouldn't have been well received!

     

    Very tempted by both train packs though. The Parcels Red GUV in the Night Mail pack is welcome and does not seem to be among the standalone releases. Hopefully the missing NSE MK2 FK will also be in the Capital Connection pack, as Tim H also speculated.

    Had some of my Dapol Mk3s out yesterday on our layout, a couple of run pasts in this video for those interested. Loco hauled Intercity Swallow and Virgin sets.

    The one I have (in the pics above) is a Chinese DCC Ready version (takes a 6 pin decoder). I would imagine the new versions would make use of the same chassis.

    Yes, it is a nice model. I have 47593 'Galloway Princess' in InterCity livery as well as 47492 'The Enterprising Scot' in ScotRail red stripe - both based on this model.

     

    The 47 I ordered is also the old tooling and it's a nice fit for the Dapol Mk3 when coupled up. I haven't had a chance to put everything together on the rails yet, but here's my rake ;) I have the new IC Swallow DVT on pre-order to replace this one, which will be relegated to post-privatisation duties on the back of a Virgin Mk3 rake.

     

    (Ignore the Regional Railways 31, that's for my RR Mk1 rake!)

    I thought it must have been the old tooling. Let's hope we get an INTERCITY swallow 478XX on the current tooling at some point. Still plenty of 47 for Farish liveries to cover.

Well, my Swallow-liveried 47 arrived today and I've just had an e-mail from Rails telling me my eight swallow-liveried Mk3s are being dispatched (alongside a Regional Railways 31 I ordered from their eBay store). Add that to the Kato storage case I have coming in from Japan and the 70-odd yards of Code 55 track I bought on Saturday, and March is quickly becoming a very expensive month!

     

    I will of course get the whole lot set up and photographed at the earliest possible opportunity :good:

    Is the Intercity Swallow 47 on the old tooling? I undersood the updated version has not been released yet.

  11. I do love the atmospheric shots of this layout.

     

    The Thornaby 37/5s look great and have got me tempted to add the same in N Gauge when Farish release them later this year. You've also tempted me with the Large Logo Blue 56 - my favourite livery and one that I remember fondly on some of the later build 56s in my early 1990s North East spotting days.

    I might have to do some digging to find out what and when exactly was the last 47/7 in BR Blue as well - unless of course you know off the top of your head!

     

     

    My (eventual) layout is definitely going to have to be more flexible in terms of the time period. It was going to be focused on 1987 to 1991 (meaning a very small window for 47713), but if I also go down the road of BR Blue and/or Large Logo Blue 47/7 push-pull sets, I guess that puts me back at least as far as 1985!

     

    I can feel one ScotRail and two blue/grey sets coming on...

  13. A very welcome announcement and a very interesting (and educational!) thread.

     

    I have the ScotRail 47/7 Push-Pull set that is featured on the CJM website with 47713, but am seriously thinking about adding a second set with this announcement; and perhaps even a blue-grey set as well.

     

    Here are some questions which I'm sure someone on here will be able to answer:

     

    1) What was the last 47/7 to wear Large Logo Blue livery and what was the latest it operated as such?

     

    2) Same question more generally for the blue-grey MK3+DBSO sets as well

     

    3) Did the blue/grey MK3s ever wear ScotRail branding, or were they all Inter-City until they recieved the blue stripe ScotRail livery?

    It seems 'InterCity 125 Executive' coaches are now available, with NC226C & NC227C both being standard class. Note that Rails currently list NC226C as First class, which appears to be incorrect.

     

    When can we expect to see a First Class in this livery?

  16. I have just spent the last couple of hours browsing through most of this thread. What an inspirational layout. Great to see some of the historical photos and descriptions too.

     

    Just a question regarding the Trans-Pennine liveried MKIIs. Are these Regional Railways versions with titles replaced, or actual Trans-Pennine liveried examples? From what I have been told, the Trans-Pennine livery differed from RR in that the lower grey was InterCity grey.
