  1. Thanks Gents! I assume that if you wanted to take a train at Temple Meads for Birmingham you boarded a Midland service.... Cheers Brendan
  2. A follow on question to the knowledgeable here! Whilst I understand that the GWR and LMS (and its predecessors) had joint running powers between Bristol and Gloucester, did the two companies both operate passengers services to Birmingham using this route, i.e. competing Temple Meads departures. I am thinking of the time both before and after the Honeybourne line was built. Cheers Brendan
  3. Chris Thanks indeed for the example you give of , I assume, Set 61 replacing 60. I comprehend the process now. Yesterday, I joined Robert Carroll's coaching group on Yahoo and found the Plymouth area coach workings for 1962. It seems that at that point, 3 sets serviced the branch: 58, 59 and 61. One would be the Wednesday swap-in. Do you believe that the replaced set remained at Newquay until the next Wednesday exchange? Also, a bracketed note under Set 58 reads: "Set No. 59 previous day". I know the branch locos alternated duties daily. Did the sets - and therefore their coaches - also alternate workings and set numbers at the end of each day? Cheers Brendan
  4. My knowledge of the branch workings is limited to GWRJ No 65 and the District Controller's North Cornwall volume. I understand that in the GWR period two B Sets, Bodmin 1 and 2, ruled the roost with a consistent composition. In the 1950s and 1960s, it seems that any number of different B Sets pairs, two at a time, might be allocated. Is this a correct interpretation of the info in these two sources? The GWRJ appears to show Sets 31 and 32 involved in a Wednesday swapover (for cleaning purposes) with 79 and 80. However, I cannot figure out how this worked from the table as the movements of 31 and 32 seem to relate only to one of the set workings and not the other. Can someone please explain this process? Cheers Brendan.
  5. Thanks Olddudders - I hadn't spotted that! That's a pity... Brendan
  6. Chris Towards the start of this topic you mentioned updating and posting your Illustrated History Of The NCR spreadsheet of coach diagrams on the NCR with references to the Hornby possibilities. Did you ever complete this? Just hoping! Can you please confirm which T9s up to now are correct for the NCR out of the box ? Cheers Brendan
