  1. As the trackway he was pulling out of was a dead end, he must have previously either crossed the crossing or approached it before turning into the track. Either way, he would then have known the crossing was there whether he was local or not...
  2. I'm sure when she's got her breath back she'll get on and do something else...
  3. By that logic, wouldn't there be another DM206 near Court Sart Junction in South Wales (junction of the Swansea High Street and Swansea District Lines)? How would they be differentiated to avoid confusion - or are they far enough apart that the numbers can be duplicated? (I think in practice the signals at Court Sart have the PT prefix (Port Talbot), though there must be other instances where there are signals the same distance from Paddington on different routes - for example there will be places on the Berks & Hants, 1835 GWML, Bristol & South Wales Direct and Swindon-Gloucester line which are all equidistant from Paddington).
  4. My father's initials are AJS. Around the time he was born, my grandfather owned an AJS motorbike.....
  5. Is this block related to the sea wall,or for other reasons?
  6. Reminds me of that tin of paint at Pendre Works where the tin had rusted away completely, leaving just the paint in the shape of the tin!
  7. I've never known the World Snooker Championship get rained off...
  8. Incidentally, the car in the film that Charlie said belonged to the Pakistani Ambassador really did! One of the producer's mates ran a garage which had it in for repair, so the producer borrowed it without the ambassador's knowledge! Not a lot of people know that....
  9. The Aston's still around as well.... Both the coach and the Mafia's FIAT survived for some time but have since been scrapped.
  10. Likewise there are three Minis doing the rounds with Italian Job numberplates which aren't the "real deal" either - the Minis in the film were given "future dated" plates for filming so that they would appear "new" when the film was released (of course if the IJ Minis survived they wouldn't be allowed to use the "future dated" plates on the road). If I recall correctly, the three Coopers used in the film were all destroyed filming the sewer sequence (attempting a 360 degree roll across the roof of the pipe) - the Minis pushed down the cliff were standard Minis painted to look like Coopers - hence only having fuel fillers on one side.
  11. I believe the pipes were used with the slot underneath! (There's a picture of one in the 1984 Constructor Annual).
  12. The GVT tram locos were also designed for cab forward operation.
  13. ISTR that some of the sewage pipes used at Dawlish were the old Atmospheric pipes being reused. IIRC the section of pipe at Didcot did some service as a sewage pipe before going to the GWS. I don't know if any still remain at Dawlish though.
  14. It took it an hour and a half to move that far????
  15. What's needed is a rake of side tipping wagons they could park on the Up line overnight and empty over the intervening wall...
  16. Good to see Bob Symes still getting about at the end of the clip - he didn't seem in terribly good shape last time I saw him.
  17. Completely off topic, but where did the other end of Mousehole tunnel come out, Mike? I've seen the WP entrance many times on trips to Paddington and always wondered where it went...
  18. Someone was busy buying all those Hachette Mk1s!
  19. The locomotives of the Saundersfoot Railway didn't have side skirts although Rosalind in particular used to run right up and down the middle of "Railway Street" and Milford Terrace! (Bull Dog at the top of the incline ran alongside/along Fan Road).
  20. Sorry to nit pick, but wasn't it the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola where Senna died (not the Italian, even though Imola is in Italy!)?
  21. Looks like the 47s which delivered the Mk3 to Laira yesterday will be heading back through Dawlish today, though strangely now at 75mph rather than 90. http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/K92087/2014/04/06/advanced
  22. Apparently the makeshift cinema was known as the "Hydrodeon"!
  23. If nothing else, you can always press the "Print Screen" button then crop in Paint etc.
