  1. Hi Sean, theres also a drawing of DP2 in Marsden & Fenn's 'BR Main Line Diesel Locomotives' (OPC) if you can get your flippers on a copy . Cheers Phil.
  2. No offence meant Tim, I was referring to when she was bodyless , but the finishing touches do send her to the top drawer . Phil.
  3. 75013 looks cracking now, the extra bit of work with the gouache has paid dividends, oh and a bit of sun B) . A nice filthy end of steam loco-right up my street, cheers Phil.
  4. Hi Tom, small world, although my roots and my modelling preferences are still grounded firmly in South Yorkshire I have lived near Kirkham for 18 years now, so have found your thread interesting. I don't know much about the railways round here so am learning from this. I thought you might be interested in this photo I took many years ago of Weeton Signal Box. Can't remember when though it's either 1985/6 when my parents moved here and I came visiting or 1993/4 when I followed them. It looks derelict but the windows are intact and there's stuff inside? Hope it's of use cheers Phil.
  5. Hi Hi James, I used to work at BSC (remember them?) sat right on top of Tinsley Yard and spent all my time thinking of a very pretty lady but I wish now I'd spent more time on the yard .
  6. Agreed but mine still dunt work, only avin a moan ha ha honestly yours looks well, "fit io eat" take that as a compliment, I would.
  7. Hi Tim, looks nice and grubby, sod the wallpaper, where's yer flanges, not moaning too much but my Brit has broken down .
  8. Hi Arnie Hi Arnie, 'Ingleborough' was a loco that spent most of its time working from Toton up the Midland Line down to the sidings where I used to spot a bit , I say a bit cos I used to watch trains rather than writing it all down, but wish I had now!!!! . However as my memory serves D7 was one of the last green 'Babes' only did that cos they turn me on HaHa . Peaks 4 eva Phil.
  9. Hi arnie, here's a pic to take you back (and me! ) to a time when 'Peaks' were even more gorgeous . Am not knocking their later incarnations but this is a loco I fell for a long time ago and as far as I remember she was very much the dirtiest loco in the world B)(1976) . She sits here in original condition, bar the white walled tyres! (doner chassis) ready for the filth shop, how long can I hold off?!!!! . The bufferbeam detail is very different as they went thro' many changes over the years, my mix here is Hornby 31 & Heljan whatever . The air pipes still had chains on! keeping them in check. Anyway, enjoy! . Cheers Phil.
  10. Hey Tom, that looks cool , well cold even, nice collection of pacifics. Phil.
  11. Hi Arnie, nice going she (if that's the right terminology for a regiment/soldier B) ) is looking very smart (which is the right terminology for a soldier!! ). I'd not heard of this one and fancy it myself . Oh and the weathering's spot on as well! Cheers Phil.
  12. Hi Tim, just remembered there's a better pic of 92044 with lamp on 'How realistic are your models?' thread pge 45 , this is more or less a normal viewing distance image .
  13. Hi Tim, heres a cruel close up, I'm going to use thinner wire next time it looks better in the flesh, the handl is finer than the cast original . However the lens shows up quite well, the KK absorbed the ink dot I placed inthe centre of the lens hole and that was the result, an accident, as I was trying to represent the hole in the reflector where the flame shone through with a small dot of ink!! I'm going to try a strand of copper wire from some multicore stuff I used to wire the layout, pretty fine. Will look out for new post on lamps. Cheers Phil.
  14. Hi Tim, nice work on the Brittania and of course the Duchess (don't want to hurt her feelings! ). Re the musings on lamps I added a piece of thin wire to a springside casting and created a lens from Krystal Klear adding a black dot behund before applying the KK with a cocktail stick. The lamp is on my 9F (pic on my thread but I can't remember whether you can see it or not) the wire was from some multicore flex I think and fitted into a hole drilled right through the body. It works but it's a bit fiddly . Cheers Phil.
  15. Hi Arnie, glad you like the pic, D55 is one down the list, I'm in the middle of chopping the detail (if thats what you want to call it!) off the buffer beams of my Railroad Cl.40 chassis. This is a replacement unit for my D231 'Sylvania' she's had a paint patch and revarnish and body wise is looking good, just the chassis to tart up then off to the muck shop . Must go got some drilling to do . Cheers Phil.
  16. Hi Arnie, glad you like 'em. Just found this photo-a couple of gronks one is 08509 'Wath ETD' , I've been trying to fathom out what the other is something mill, hill or hall? Anyway I don't have any 37 namer shots, I can't actually remember seeing any but I didn't get up there very often. There were some 37s around in sector liveries thay were probably visitors and didn't stop long enough to be attacked by the Tinsley painter boys . And just look at the sad sight of all those dead locos that 31 on the left looks as though it's been on fire! I've just received my 'Royal Signals' so it looks like some detailing is in order. Happy Peak-ing Phil.
  17. Hi Arnie, just dug out a couple more photos, sadly not 'Peaks' but Tinsley namers 47051 'Great Snipe' 47079 & 08880 'Darnall' (Darnall was a steam shed with diesel & electric facilities-now gone-I used to live round the corner from it .) an alternative name for your 'Gronk' project? As you can see at this time the 'Peaks' had gone and 47s reigned supreme! ('92-'93) Cheers Phil.
  18. Hi Arnie, glad photos are of use, Tinsley had quite a few named 'Gronks' in fact if you stood still too long at Tinsley depot you'd be repainted and named . I too have a soft spot for 'Peaks' they were the mainstay of passenger diagrams during my short lived spotting days ('76&'77). Unfortunately the Tinsley namers don't fit my steam/green diesel modelling era however I'm fancying 'Merrdyn Emryss' (if thats how you spell it ). Now that was their crowning glory (should have been a 'Peak' tho'!). I'm just waiting for my latest D55 'Royal Signals' , and I'll be in my elements again adding the requisite detailing, a special recipe from various sources B) . Anyway have fun at your depot Phil.
  19. Hi Arnie, a couple more shots for you- 45033 'Sirius' And somthing a little different 08 141 (I think!) 'Manvers' (that was a local colliery) Cheers Phil
  20. Hi Arnie, you're welcome, I remember the day quite well I wasn't supposed to be lurking around in Tinsley yard but I just had to get some pics B) . These are the best of the bunch, if I get time I'll see if I can find the others and any worthwhile shots I'll post here for you. Sad to see it's all gone now even I'm not in Sheffield anymore!! There was another scrap line near Sheffield that I found and wished I'd had mi camera on me. Do you remember the 'Peak' that Tinsley painted green? well she was in a scrap line near Beighton Engineer's yard near Woodhouse Station, along with other 'Peaks' and a couple of 47s but sadly no pics! That was probably '88 or '89 cos I had my toddler daughter with me. I'm glad you've got an interest in the Tinsley namers they were lets just say "interesting". Cheers Phil.
  21. Hi, your layout looks great, you appear to have an interest in Tinsley loco namers so heres a couple of photos I took many moons ago on the scrap lines down in the main yard. Vampire Mercury Both were taken on 25-4-1990 and they were looking in a sorry state . Hope you might get some use from them. Cheers Phil.
  22. Lookin good Tim, the soot staining along the top is very effective, cheers Phil.
  23. After showing my Cl.25 the other day this little lady wanted to have ago (Shh! she's touchy about her size ) well a bit bigger than Jim's tractor (nice job). 92044 awaits coal and water for her next duty.
