"Vehicles must be parked within bays" feels better. Fewer words too.

But that means you must park your vehicle, whether you want to or not.

"No parking outside of bays" would be the usual wording.

Better would be "Please park within the marked bays only. Thank you."

Totally agree. It’s this near obsession with the ‘6 foot way’ that’s the root cause of the problem. Far too much emphasis on this nominal figure in modelling circles rather than the standard structure gauge minimum figures. Doubt it will ever change though.

    Bob

Templot sorts it out for you. Select the required prototype WAY dimension and Templot will calculate and use the required model track CENTRES.

For 00 etc. the distance between the rails is increased accordingly.

On sharp curves increase the WAY setting to ensure adequate running clearance. Or you can use the dummy vehicle function to find out and set the required increased track centres.

Patrick started the thread, however martin has been editing and changing the thread title through the years as he is a mod...

    Hi Wayne,

I have limited moderator privileges on this section of RMweb only, because it specifically references Templot.

I have updated the title to refer to the Scalefour Society for the P4 kits. Are you planning to add them to your own web site?

    cheers,

    Martin.

Here is an example from Templot against Rmweb. The dialogue box is almost too small to read.

    Hi Ian,

That's what the program size slider is for (bottom right of screen):

Adjust it to give Templot a comfortable size on your screen.

    cheers,

    Martin.

I'm printing in set modules rather than individual points to ensure everything lines up from the Templot model

    Hi Tom,

Just to clarify for everyone that you are not using Templot 3D plug track. I think you have created your own 3D files to match a 2D Templot track plan?

It's hard work trying to make sure folks don't get confused. Templot 3D plug track puts the webs at the end of the timbers, and has its own system of connector clips for modules (called "bricks" in Templot -- think Lego). As you say, it all gets lost under the ballast:

I guess everything is nicely sealed so they are ok.

Being nicely sealed is not much help.

Fords: the road surface is often green and slimy with little grip. It takes very little side-flow of water to push a vehicle off the road.

Floods: you can't see what's under the water. The flood could have washed out pot holes or deposited debris on the road. If the flooded length is more than a few dozen yards you can lose your bearings between the verges - few country roads are dead straight.

If the ford is unsuitable for any motor vehicles, the only things I can imagine using it would be horses, and they won't be doing 20mph!

It's an information sign. It's unsuitable for motor vehicles in the opinion of whoever put it there. You may disagree. Especially if you are driving say a farm tractor or a JCB. But if you do decide to drive across, the legal speed limit is 20mph.

The sign may also relieve the local Highways Authority of a legal requirement to maintain it suitable for vehicles.

Interestingly if you are in a motor vehicle there is no way of avoiding the ford. The only 'dry' way is the pedestrian footpath on the left. I for one wouldn't risk it in my car. Can anyone identify exactly where this ford is please?

Because such signs do not apply to Audi and BMW drivers.

    Or anyone else?

Top sign, triangular = Warning. Can be legally ignored.

Middle sign, rectangular = Information. Can be legally ignored.

Bottom sign, circular = Mandatory. Can't be.

Was there an earthquake? The downpipe on the building has managed to stay upright, but everything else has gone over at a crazy angle.

I managed to fix the earthquake, but not the spelling:

That would require a diagonal red bar across it. The red ring means it's mandatory if found up a tree.

    Hi Martin,

If starting in FDM, you might want to look at the topics on the Templot Club forum, such as:

     https://85a.uk/templot/club/index.php?threads/3d-printer-kingroon-kp3s-pro-s1.850/

The standard profiles supplied with most FDM printers may not give the best results for timbering bases. See the above link for suggested custom settings.

    cheers,

    Martin.
