  1. I thought you had moved them down into the bottom corner? Just suggesting an idea in principle, I don't have a copy of your box file to see how it might fit in practice, or not fit. Martin.
  2. Hi Gordon, To avoid wrong-road working between the crossovers, you could try a bi-directional middle road. With 3 tracks, it's not obvious to the observer which road is which, and the outer tracks are always running right road anyway. Martin.
  3. Hi Gordon, I wasn't looking for any particular answer, I just wanted to be sure you knew it was available. Templot2 is a natural for those curved double junctions, now that it can generate irregular diamonds easily. You might find you could save a bit of space, or ease a radius somewhere. regards, Martin.
  4. Hi Gordon, Looking good. Many moons ago you asked for an option to change the text size used for the page numbers in the corners of the trimmed Templot sheets. I provided such an option, but you don't seem to be using it? Go to the output > trim margins > font for corner page numbers... menu item to set want you want. If you are saving your program preferences between sessions, this setting is included. regards, Martin.
  5. Hi Gordon, It's just trendy jargon for web site hosting. The difference is that a cloud Hypervisor program controls an entire server farm, and allocates server resources to individual hosting accounts according to requirements, almost instantly. On a traditional dedicated server (e.g. RMweb before the changeover), if Andy wanted a larger hard drive on his server, it would mean Jim driving to the data centre, physically changing the drive and copying data to the new one. Now that we are in the cloud, Andy can simply log in to his account, request additional hard drive space, and the Hypervisor program will allocate it to RMweb immediately. And Warner's monthly bill will go up accordingly. The snag with the new arrangement is that there is no Jim with a tool box to email. The hosting company is in Dublin, the servers are in London. If something goes wrong, we are in the hands of the system -- your call is important to us, press 1 to hear some nice music. Fortunately we have a trump card -- RMweb member McC ( http://www.rmweb.co..../user/4630-mcc/ ) is a director of the hosting company. Martin.
  6. I'm off somewhere nice. I must be, because I've just received this booking confirmation email. It seems someone has booked me in for one night at a Motel for $719! Also you would think charging $719 for one night would let them afford a spell checker. Martin.
  7. Is this early enough? Weather report: Black (very). Wet (very). Further details here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9QumF93PpY
  8. I've just done a transfer from PayPal to my bank account. The email confirmation contained this statement: "Funds will take up to 2 hours to appear in your bank account, but may take longer." Anyone care to translate the meaning of "up to" there? Are these the people dealing with the WCML bids? Martin.
  9. With my local doctor you have to be on your guard. As you go in he says "Hello, how are you?". You have to be very careful not to say "fine, thanks" -- the instinctive response when meeting an acquaintance in the street. Otherwise he shouts "Next!". Martin.
  10. Hi Ian, No milk for a week! A doctor member of a local model railway club used to prescribe this for everything, including a sprained ankle. He would go into the waiting room and shout "No milk for a week!". They all went home, and he went back to reading the paper. He said it nearly always worked, and even if it didn't it couldn't do any harm. Hope you're soon feeling better. Martin.
  11. I had a mild bout of shingles about 25 years ago, around my head. It wasn't too painful, just itchy, but I went along to the docs as I wasn't too sure what it was. The doctor became very animated and excited. He said it was an unusual case, and got out lots of textbooks and coloured diagrams to show me where the nerves run round the head and face. He explained what had caused it, what hadn't caused it, how it might develop, how it couldn't develop, the Latin name for it, other such cases he'd seen over the years, interesting possible cases he'd never seen himself, ... After about half an hour of this, I said it was all very interesting but what was he going to do about it? Oh, he said. It's a virus. We can't do anything about it, you just have to get over it! Martin.
  12. The crossing keeper at Oddingley closes the gate behind the Google Streetview camera vehicle: https://maps.google....3,256.08,,0,2.1 https://maps.google.....89,,0,0.3&z=15 https://maps.google....79.51,,0,4&z=15 https://maps.google....37,,1,0.81&z=15 This little-used crossing normally stands closed to road traffic: https://maps.google.....24,,0,1.3&z=15
  13. Hi Pete, I think we are all back, but it's running slow -- probably because caches are being rebuilt. It will probably speed up soon. I agree about the match. Given a contest between a German and an American I think I would be more likely to identify with the one who speaks the same native language as me. Not that it makes the slightest difference who I identify with -- to me or to them. That's the thing about sports enthusiasm that I have never been able to understand. regards, Martin.
  14. Mornin all. Most of sport is a mystery to me. I listened to the Radio 5 report of the Golf last night. I couldn't make head nor tail of which ball had to fall down which hole, but I could sense the excitement and I gather everyone here is very pleased with the result. Well done to those who played well and realised their dreams. What I couldn't understand is that Gordon told me I should be supporting the blue German player rather than the red American. Why? I have no particular leanings towards either country. And what does "support" mean in this context? What difference does it make who I support, and how does the player know that I'm supporting them? Martin.
  15. I found the moving pictures. A classic episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNocyCC7Xl4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCo5Ks5unFE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmzK4a_vrLY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jm7f6PgA9k http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbwLWN1AfhY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NprWmibuTtA
  16. It would be if I could understand a word of it! And no, I haven't paid Sky any money.
  17. OK I found reporting at http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/golf/19778883 and Radio Five. But how do I see moving pictures?
  18. I also need to know which button to press to see them? And how will they know I want them to win? Martin.
  19. Who invented the alarm clock? I've always wanted to kick him into the street.
  20. Mornin all. If it is morning. It's dark outside so it could be anything. i don't want to raise false hopes here, but out of the 73,257 grass seeds which I planted weeks ago, yesterday one of them -- if viewed in the right light with a magnifying glass -- was showing something which might possibly be the beginnings of a shoot. Martin.
  21. ERs start chatting about their toy trains, and within hours the Hornby share price has dropped like a stone: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-19710155
  22. "The device is not to be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction." Guess the device? Click down and drag your mouse over the space below to see the answer: Doorbell push button. Martin.
  23. All this talk of tea making, means I'm off to kitchen right now. This posting of the first drivel that comes to mind is strangely addictive. Not forgetting that once posted, it is on the web forever. What future historians will make of the news that Martin Wynne made a cup of tea at 15:27 BST on 25th September 2012 is a bit of a mystery.
