  1. O S Nock's book on the Caledonian Railway has a photo of an ROD 2-8-0 at Aberdeen in 1920. Livery appears to be the usual unlined black used for Caley goods locos, but it does have C R on the tender. Anybody know how long after 1920 the Caley used them and whether they were taken into LMS service?
  2. Could be wrong, but I'm sure I read somewhere that 68030 is actually a "nationalised" industrial rather than a real J94. Can anybody confirm or deny?
  3. Not a problem confined to preservation; photos of the Aberdeen gas works Barclays working the line to the harbour, frequently reveal a hundredweight bag of goal sitting on the running plate
  4. In theory yes, as I also think they are wonderful locos and unjustly undervalued these days - not being able to aford the real thing I have to make do with three Hornby ones. However, I suspect the reasoning behind repainting Austerities as J94s is simply to look more convincing when hauling British Railways liveried Mk1s.
  5. Dibber's comment yesterday that "I believe we may know about the OO version at the end of the week...." rather suggests Bachmann. If it was Hornby there'd be no reason to announce it now rather than wait a couple more weeks to Christmas Day when the whole programme is unveiled.
  6. Ah and here was me getting so excited, a Sentinel, oh joy... ...but not a railcar
