  1. The first stage of the scenery detail. A covering of acrylic paint, generously sprinkled with various clocks and Woodland Scenics stuff. This is then saturated in diluted PVA to fix and then more stuff will be added whilst still wet to create depth. Afterwards, I will work on the rocky outcrops...
  2. And here is the patrolman's view as he makes his way back to the cabin and a welcome cup of tea
  3. J35 64491 arrives into Whinburgh where fellow NBR veteran D30 no 62440 is taking a breather after arriving with a passenger train
  4. K1 62027 drops down into the Up Goods awaiting a clear road behind the next passenger train....
  5. Ex NBR J35 0-6-0 trundles south through Slitrigg on a local goods job.
  6. The next project is to develop the scenery around Whinburgh North SB and the river bridge as far as the tunnel mouth. Here is progress on the SB module ....
  7. 60093 Coronach at Whitrope Siding SB
  8. 62744 The Holderness was photographed at Hawick shed in the late 50s, so here is mine climbing towards Whitrope on an 'all stations'. Hornby 'Railroad' range with a few added details and weathering
  9. Hi Annie. I have no intention of scrapping them and no doubt will get around to selling them on to someone who will appreciate them for what they are. My dad collected them intending to construct a fleet of locos, and set up a small workshop to restore /service them, fit ptfe bearings and telephone dial governors. They are all safely packed in my loft, testing the strength of the rafters - they weight a ton!! I might post some pics to ask for help in identifying them.
  10. I am using them as still life subjects though.....
  11. My late father collected gauge 0 locomotive clockwork mechanisms and draughted a series of drawings to 'prove' how these could be fitted into various pre-grouping locos- which were never built I have inherited around 50 4-coupled and 6-coupled mechanisms; Basset Lowke, Bing, Corby, Walker Fenn etc but don't know how to dispose of them (scrap metal would be unforgivable in my opinion). Any ideas ?
  12. I think we would have had at least two small shunters; 6-coupled (03) and 4-coupled. I agree on the Type 1 - Class 20 - up to 500 off A type 2 would probably be from the Sulzer clan. Probably 800 with detailed variations to suit regional differences. The Type 3 would have to be the class 37 - a do anything, go anywhere mixed traffic loco. Say 1500 off. Type 4s would be either EE or Sulzer. Maybe some of each. The Deltic is an interesting question. The need was for a high powered, high speed loco. I contend that, given proper development, the Paxman range could have been more successful much earlier than it was for the HST. Also remember that the standard steam loco fleet could have remained in place until the mid 1980s, particularly for freight using 9Fs
  13. ......and a couple of tail lamps to finish for today.
  14. A Peppercorn K1 waits for the signal to back down into Whinburgh station
  15. Now that the type 4 diesels have arrived, 60093 Coronach is relegated from the Waverley express to secondary duties. Here she is on a down relief..
  16. D49 62744 'The Holderness' on the Sunday afternoon all stations.....
  17. It's 6 deg C in the loft so time to check everything still works. Two soldered joints to fix but otherwise all is ok.
  18. Can anybody suggest where I might obtain either a 00 gauge Heljan Clayton body or complete unpowered version. I have one of the original defective motorised chassis and I would like to create a dummy loco to pair up with my powered version. I cant justify buying a second powered version
  19. D49 62440 The Holderness was photographed at Hawick in 1959. Here is mine in the process of being weathered
  20. D30 Scott class Wandering Willie - PDK kit
  21. Whinburgh South down inner home signal reinstalled at last..... . A busy moment indeed. Sulzer type 2 D5302 approaches on a short fitted freight whilst passenger trains occupy both of the other platforms. A B1 waits patiently in the down refuge siding for a clear path.
  22. Ex North British Railway D30 62440 Wandering Willie, scampers up the gradient with a short van train. This PDK kit was a satisfying build and, now that I have added some more lead weight, it runs a treat. The Highlevel gear set is silent
