  1. Hattons email says they are expecting delivery on or after today.
  2. Hatton's bargains are harder to find than they need to be, as the Bargains tab yields only a sub-filter by manufacturer and not by gauge, product type etc as the Rails site allows you to do. And a search for "n gauge bargains" gets no hits, even using the advanced filter. EDIT - the new website has corrected this
  3. Australia has announced the same ban starting Monday, and we have many fewer cases than the UK. Hopefully the UK will avoid the farce we've just had here where the F1 race was cancelled with people already queuing at the gates.
  4. Hatton's Widnes store is closed until further notice which probably explains the lack of new pre-owned stuff.
  5. Going under the Dapol 3500gall tender looks challenging as there is a weight, water scoop and brake rodding in the way. If my physics is correct, on a 15VACC DCC system a 2 *330uf capacitor stay alive (which is what I'm using) will store 0.075J of energy giving 0.5s of power at 0.1A, equating to about 5mm of travel at a scale 5kmh in N. That might be enough to overcome the intermittent tender pickup issue, so I'll see how that goes.
  6. What's happened to Hatton's pre-owned section? Normally there are dozens of new items every weekday, but only two items have been added since 27 Feb.
  7. Did the GWR and SR have a convention about which side of the tracks they placed gradient and mile posts?
  8. Could you disclose what the print specs were and what they charged please?
  9. I'd add that Hattons deduct VAT from their pre-owned stuff for non-EU buyers whereas Rails (via their eBay store) do not - and eBay adds another 10% GST for Australian buyers.
  10. Phil - according to this Guy Motors history the FBB was a forward cab version of the BB introduced in 1926, so are you referring to a modified BB?
  11. Thanks. A little googling suggests you are right, which would date the picture sometime after 1927, and perhaps the late 1930s when the Riviera Hotel opened at Bowleaze Cove. I can't find any images of an FBB with toastrack seating, but earlier Guy coaches with this arrangement as illustrated in PhilJ's post were employed nearby at Bournemouth.
  12. Any thoughts please as to how much stay-alive capacitance you need? I'm struggling to find room for more than 2x220uF tantalums in a Dapol 3500gall GWR tender, even with the smaller Tramfabriek motor and casing.
  13. Can anyone identify this splendid charabanc please? Near Weymouth, Dorset; date unknown.
  14. Indeed. No disrespect to the wonderful Copenhagen Fields, but perhaps it's time the award was restricted to newly exhibited layouts.
  15. Crowdfunding isn't just about raising money, it's also about reducing project risk. Even if the manufacturer has the money they might well choose to secure sales upfront through crowdfunding. All the more so if they are an individual faced with a six-figure investment.
  16. Posts on the NGF suggest that UM locos with the current finer wheel profiles are OK on Finetrax but wheel back to backs can be tight and need to be checked.
  17. I had the same thought. Perhaps Ben could clarify if an existing order can be added to and whether there would be shipping charge savings for a multiple order.
  18. Very nice Chris. Are the chalk markings transfers or hand drawn?
  19. The most definitive book on the branch is probably From Devon to Dorset: the Story of the Lyme Regis Branch by George Reeves - Irwell Press George lists the following strangers on the branch in BR days prior to the Ivatts replacing the Radials: June 1953 - Terrier, test run and RCTS special May 1958 - 3-coach Metro Cammell DMU, rail tour November 1958 - 14xx 1462. Lost time badly and damaged track on test runs so returned to WR after a few days.
  20. New deco sample posts on Dapol/Lionheart Facebook pages - "full scale production to start soon"
  21. Now I have the kit I can confirm that the quality of printing is excellent. It appears to be applied as a thin film rather than tempo printed, so I wonder how well it will resist lifting or tearing during flash removal around the windows and drilling for the handles etc.
  22. No issues personally - I have a 56xx on order
  23. You cannot discount buyer circumspection so readily. I have great faith in Revolution (and an order in for the 56xx), but to date they have released only one N Gauge loco and that was produced by an established manufacturer, whilst Sonic have released none. Buyers are accustomed to cancellations or long waits for N Gauge projects. There has not yet been a magazine review. And DJM is still fresh in the memory. Let's see how much demand comes in at the deadline and afterwards through retailers.
  24. Microbrush disposable applicators with a tiny sponge tip are very good for this - available cheaply on eBay.
