  1. Is there nothing nicer than the purr of a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine flying by? (been watching a documentary on Battle Of Britain on Military History channel)

      They do sound lovely, I see them performing quite often as my house backs on to RAF Northolt.

      A couple of year back i was asked to conduct a senior conductor down to skegness with an HST , on the second run the lancaster flew low and slow past the train when it was on its way back to Coningsby, that was really good to see!

      Last September ar Duxford, there was a flypast to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. This consisted of 16 Spitfires in formation flying over the airfield with the sun setting and as the crowd held a minute's silence for those that died. Really was a 'Hollywood' moment as you could visualise the faces of the pilots looking down, certainly raised the hairs on the back of my neck
