  1. A good thread to look at for inspiration in building units is Colin parks magnificent efforts on a hal and sub unit .
  2. Perhaps there exist suitable castings or get some 3d printed as they'd be small, shouldn't be too expensive. Otherwise, brass rod stacked on the back of a lorry waiting to be assembled with red warning things on the end of they're stick over the end of the bed.
  3. Would be fairly straightforward to scratch build such scaffolding from plastruct bits or brass rod bits, which might look better.
  4. Iirc the Dapol jcb represents a 1950/60s model, quite different to the more modern type, which hasn't changed much since the 80s iirc.
  5. A low loader delivering supplies perhaps? Or a cement mixing lorry delivering cement? I'm sure corgi or Oxford do suitable items in their range (or past range.
  6. It was one or more of the kingsway kits that gave me the idea.
  7. Talking of Trolleybuses. This is something I've considered as a diorama at some point. http://www.trolleybus.net/fullsize/russell2/2.jpg Though I remember it being more like this: http://www.trolleybus.net/fullsize/king/bexleyheathbusgarage.jpg
  8. Multi Era is doable it is what I plan on doing so I can run anything from 1925-present. I'm also planning to keep some aspects generic enough that the Central division could be represented, which is a bit easier to do with no station!
  9. I found the site Natalie pointed me at when I was finding relevant research items for my own use. Its here. Lots of interesting information there.
  10. That is how they started The photo is great The road markings look good, if perhaps to my eye a bit too modern, but without reference I can't say that for sure as such things can be difficult to work out without references to hand I find.
  11. A good excuse for a acetelane torch lighting kit perhaps or a moving crane?
  12. That fencing looks much better. Perhaps weather it to make it less 'stark'? with some appearance of rust or flaked paint? So much simpler south of the Thames concrete, concrete everywhere
  13. I used to have a huge collection of 60s/70s RM and Airfix magazines, which I'd pick up cheaply whenever a visit to a preserved railway occurred growing up (every holiday *had* to have one or both of a preserved steam railway or a good selection of book shops according to my father's criteria). He stopped buying RM around the late 80s/early 90s as I lost interest in model railways in favour of aircraft models at the time. No idea what happened to the collection of magazines I left behind, probably long ago went in the recycling bin.
  14. The H and P would be nice little models, though I seem to recall something about Bachmann potentially doing that. Mk3 unit stock would be good. Though 4car EMUs would probably be seen as too big a risk to some extent unless they're 'special'.
  15. Those interested in APTs (P, rather than E in this case, though other items might interest), I took some photos today of the APT-P powercar at the ERM, along with a former hastings unit that has tilting modifcations.
  16. just uploaded todays photos. APT/457/416/4SUB/Bulleid 2EPB featured.

  17. So no real updates again in terms of the plan. But I did get to the Electric Railway Museum's open day today. The weather was good in the morning so got to get some decent enough photos - however, I borrowed my other half's 700D camera for the day and had the ISO setting wrong for some of the photos so they came out too dark, do'h! -. The photos from today's visit are here: I previously took photos a few years ago, which are located here: Whilst there I managed to pick up this lot: For £6! that being 30 magazines (including some 2016 issues, and the Hornby Handbook 2016, Railway Modeller Annual 2016 and Hornby Magazine Yearbook No.8) working out at 10p each! 2 Traction DVDs (50p each) and a couple of books. I also picked up 3 large mugs which Richard had been wanting for at his new house (I prefer to drink tea from 3/4pt or 1pt mugs) for £3. So that was a result really. Quite a lot of interesting articles and information in that lot. Next weekend will see a visit to the Scalefour North show in Wakefield, which I'm looking forward to.
  18. Went to the electric railway museum open day today, these are a few of the vehicles that were there. The gallery with the rest of the photos is here now:
  19. Hope you're feeling better soon. The flu jab is based on statistics of what they think are the most likely strains in a given year, so can be hit or miss for some people. I find the jab makes me ill for a few weeks afterwards (a side effect of my illness really), but I tend not to get the full blown flu, which would be horrendous for me really (again due to chronic illness).
  20. Afternoon all. The weather has decided to be kind for trip to the electric railway museum open day. Should have some nice photos of electric units that should prove useful. Now to sit and rest for a short while with a cuppa and painkillers.
  21. Lovely day at erm. Plenty of electric unit photos with borrowed 700d :-)

  22. Lovely day at erm. Plenty of electric unit photos with borrowed 700d :-)

  23. Saw this on facebook. Moron doesn't begin to cover it. And 68 months is still far too short a sentence for such a stupid act.
  24. I'm tempted to order a MLV from Invicta models at some point if funds permit. I have a Replica body to do some conversion work on at some point too.
