Exactly the problem I have, as I picked some up second hand, I thought the previous owner had re-wheeled them. Shocked that these got through GF QA, wonder if later versions had a fix?
Cheers Jim / Bernard

Excellent work!

The advantage of a Winter scene would be that we wouldn't have to take much stock to exhibitions, as most services would have been cancelled ;-)
Definitely, aiming for Spring / Summer with the scenery though, watch this space.

Thanks Andy. We had Watt's Crossing up yesterday to make sure everything as OK. Looking forward to next week. Cheers, Mark.

Happy Birthday
That looks like a 'Mixed Goodies' train to me!

Hi Red,
Would it be possible to have a real close-up of the front of the tram, would be interested to see if there is any stepping in the print.
It looks really fantastic though with allot of small detail on there. This is N Gauge yes?
Cheers, Mark.

Why not drill a small hole (1mm or less) or put a track pin in at either end of the point mid way between the rails, make sure the drill or pin goes all the way through the baseboard and then draw a line between the holes underneath. You then know exactly which orientation the point is in and can position your point motor more accurately.

Cheers Graham, The 37 belongs to one of the group members involved in the layout build and the video doesn't do it justice. He needs to run a weathering class for the rest of us ASAP!

Hi Andrew,
To be honest, we didn't give feedback much of a thought, as we only intend to operate them via the Command Station, by Throttle or using something like a JMRI Panel. This should allow the Accessory Decoders to keep track of them, once they have been operated once or initialised.
We have also split the layout into Power Districts, with a dedicated PD for the Accessory Decoders, which all things being equal should never short and shut down, so reardless of what's happening on the layout (short wise), we will be able to switch points and reliably know what state they are in.
The main factor though was cost, Accessory Decoders are expensive bit's of kit on top of the motors and points required, so in the end we decided to use the MERG Accessory Decoders. These operate 4 solenoid or slow action point motors and come as a kit for assembly. As one of our members has the skills, he made them up for us. They are around

Indeed, it has yaken our group (6 of us), just over a year to get this far. Although, it's really now where the hard work starts with the scenics ;-)
How far into your build are you?
-
Yep, just a few more lengths of track and we'll be able to run end to end ;-)
Hopefully the pins will do for us. The Brass Rod idea sounds interesting, I'll put that forward as a suggestion for our end boards / fiddle yard.
Cheers.

Thanks for your comments Nick, much appreciated.
Yeah, there seem to be various ways to isolate the frogs, but in N most really affect the point visually with the resulting gaps looking too big. I found the advice to use a jewellers saw on this forum and was very happy with the result.

Let's say I had a window of opportunity and didn't abuse it. She arrived home to find me sweeping up, which immediately made her suspicious, doh!
