  1. Hi As Locoman says, it’s a Loksound V4 using one of the downloadable Loksound templates (the US K27) with new whistles made from my own (and a friend’s) recordings. It isn’t a patch on Locoman’s projects but I am teaching myself how to build projects for my own interest. I’ve been using different templates to match the chuff sounds as best I can to the loco, but speakers are everything. The O4/1 uses an EM2 and it is an impressive speaker, really has some bass punch, but is a bit muffled so am considering putting in a sugar cube in series to improve the higher end. The sound project for the O4 is based on the NSWGR Z27 template which are actually my own recordings that were processed by ESU on behalf of an Australian manufacturer (Southern Rail Models). I made up a Beyer Peacock playable whistle to replace the original. It also has new brake and injector sounds as I wanted to play around with the loop files and the programming. Cheers Tony
  2. Been enjoying catching up on the latest series of pics Gilbert, especially Silver Link, it looks sublime. Hope your back is on the mend after your recent slip. You need to look after yourself man! Cheers Tony
  3. Thanks John I do have a thing for coal trains for some reason, but that last shot was a new angle that I hadn’t tried before and looked quite good. Cheers Tony
  4. My latest video, featuring an EM2 speakered O4/1 at the end, definitely an earthmover speaker! Sound fitted steam from a range of sources, including one which features nearly all my own recordings (the O4/1). Cheers Tony
  5. Thanks very much Luke Work is continuing slowly, I have relaid some track at the station area, but have been mostly focused on doing sound files and installs as well as trying to finish off two J6s. Once the J6s are done, then I will get back to the station area proper. In the meantime I have also been doing a fair bit of work for an Australian manufacturer, helping with sound files, manual development and testing, so that has been taking up any other spare hobby time, but it also brings in some extra funds which has allowed me to do more sound fitting in my own rollingstock. To feature these I’ve just finished a new video, which has some of the previous sound fitted locos, plus a J50 fitted with digitrains sound, and two new Loksound installs (one B1, one O4/1) based on some sound files of my own and Loksound templates. Cheers Tony
  6. Nice work there Eric, they've come up very nice. What did you do for the chassis? Been hunting around for a Nucast C13 or C14 (not sure which one is available), as I wouldn't mind doing a pseudo scratchbuild using various bits and pieces. Cheers Tony
  7. Hi John Cracking work on the turntable and surrounds, it really does fit in perfectly now. Your layout and work has always been an inspiration for me and I always look forward to updates on the World According to Granby! Cheers Tony
  8. That J3 does look a picture, I wish I could justify one up my way, but perhaps I will keep pressing on with certain J6s in the meantime. Been enjoying catching up on all things PN, especially B17s and shiny A3s. As for B1s, I have 4 but I think I need another, though like you say, the Hornby offering is a tad expensive. Glad you got over your recent virus too Gilbert. Cheers Tony
  9. Only just catching up with your thread Eric. Great to see the latest lot of pics and the J37s look very nice indeed. Love all the shiny pacifics! Cheers Tony
  10. That last shot of Doncaster is a cracker Gilbert
  11. Thanks John If you need any help with image stacking, just sing out. Cheers Ton
  12. Hi John Some great reading, images and videos. With the Dean Goods, I don’t think it is gearing as it is only occurring on a full revolution of the driving wheels. I would look for a bit of flash on the back of the drivers, or if you can do it a a slower speed step, stop it as soon as it hesitates and check if the rods are loose. If not, that indicates a bind, but that’s quite unusual in most RTr mechs. Other things to check for are bent pickups getting caught between the frames and the drivers, flash in the stub axles etc. if you want to get really into fault finding, you can remove the motor and see if it still has the hesitation as a rolling chassis. Hope that helps. Cheers Tony
  13. Just spent a very nice hour catching up on all things PN. Apologies for being AWOL, work has had me travelling all over the damn place, and have been missing my regular dose of ER pacifics, B1s and other Eastern delights. Really enjoyed the helicopter shots and the J50 ones. Will try to keep up with progress now and am about to enjoy your HM article also. Cheers Tony
  14. Thanks very much Ted It turn out very well in the mag. Unfortunately I’ve not had much layout time in the last couple of months because of work, but hoping to get stuck in again soon. Cheers Tony
  15. We are now down to the cutting room floor. I think the figures, while adding human interest, really scream “toy train”, but still, I was experimenting with different angles. The nice people at Hornby Mag sent me 4 hard copies of the issue with my layout in it. I must admit to being most impressed by the print version, it does show the layout in the best possible light, probably better than real life actually! Cheers Tony
  16. Looking really good there Scott. Can’t believe it’s been six years since Graham passed. I used to really enjoy his videos and it was an excellent layout too. Cheers Tony
  17. Hi Gilbert Re the conundrum of servos vs Tortoise for the signal, you’d probably need to buy a decent quality servo if you want it to last, or a few cheaper ones and be prepared to replace them. I’m thinking of trying them for a couple of signals but think the Tortoise would be more relieable and easier to wire up. The serves will need some sort of servo controller. Cheers Tony
  18. Really liking the look of that loco shed John, great work! I use a sliver of blue tack on my loco lamps, mostly on mixed traffic and goods locos, but it is a bit fiddly. Cheers Tony
  19. Hi Richard Yes, this was another focus stacked image, with around 20 shots taken at different focus points then combined in photoshop using the methods illustrated by Andy Y in the photography forum. I do like that shot too, both or the subject and how it came out. Cheers Tony
  20. Here is another from the low front on angle. I got the idea of taking a pic here after experimenting with different shots in places I hadn’t previously taken shots from. This J6 will be getting a stablemate soon, with a couple currently on the workbench.
  21. I hope so Gilbert, if that side on of the V2 is anything to go by
  22. Copped the same here Jesse, it's going around at the moment.
