Hope all is well Gilbert, loving the recent additions to the motive power roster and the different shots by KNP and yourself. The plonks are still some of my favourites too.
Been playing catch up again as I've been a bit busy with work, but finishing off my catch up with that lovely shot of the B17 above is very nice!
Cheers

Tim and I wondered whether anyone would mention something unusual about this loco when I showed the first pictures of it, but no-one did, so I will now tell you that there is something not just unusual but unique about this particular B1, and see what transpires. If anyone spotted it immediately, but thought it so obvious that it wasn't worth commenting on, I shall apologise. It is one for those with a particular interest in matters LNER/BR really.
No AWS bang plate indicates no train control fittings, a bit of a rarity at this time?

Always enjoy a virtual visit to your layout Peter, so have been enjoying a thread catch-up looking at all the BR Blue.

Nothing quite beats a shiny A4 for shouting “look here, I’m the star of this show”…

Another attempt at something different.
OK, so how many visits to the Chiropractor do you need after getting that shot Gilbert? It looks very good all the same.
I'm glad you are continuing to post these photos of the Saturday workings, it is all a bit different but also the same (if that makes sense?).
Cheers

Looking very good John. I have two Dapol LMS home signals on the layout so far which I rewired with MERG components so they are are able to be switched on/off rather than press button but both have worked excellently for the last 2 years or so. I recently acquired quite a few more so am looking to do further installations, but the depth below the baseboard is a concern in places. Still, it is nice to have some working signals finally.
Cheers

Thanks for posting this Andy. Still waiting for mine to arrive at Wakefield West, even if it is beyond my timeframe. Looks and sounds lovely, it does seem to be an absolutely superb model.

By sheer coincidence, a full formation was next up, and it does indeed confirm that weekends were very different. One thing I have noticed is that Thompson CKs are specified in a large number of trains, often two of them. I've just run a West Riding train made up BSK 8x SK8 2x CK 3-3 BSK.
We need to remember that in the 50s BR still had a large number of coaches that never turned a wheel for eleven months of the year. It meant the service was there when the demand arose though.
Any thought of you coming to the UK again now that Covid seems to be settling down?
Yes Gilbert
We are thinking of a trip next year hopefully as my work has promised me a trip to an international conference which will most likely be in Europe, so will definitely need a visit to PN again (if you’ll have me!).
Cheers

I’m really enjoying this Saturday timetable, just makes you realise how different the services were then with such a focus on the seaside workings. It also brings up the age old issue of bias in photography, if most photographers were out on weekends, the pictures we often see don’t necessarily give us the best indication of the weekday scene (and thanks to Gilbert for pointing this out to me some time ago).

Tony,
Just to add to what Gilbert has said, some of these sets were originally used on semi fast KX- Leeds services. I forget which time period you model but pre war you could certainly run them through Wakefield. Post war they tended to lose the D.190 as Gilbert said which was replaced by a Thompson or Mk 1 CK and the remaining artic twins were mainly used on KX-Peterborough semi fasts and the East Lincs. Later they seem to turn up on relief services so you could justify a twin on such a train through Wakefield.
Steve Banks has a write up of them here
https://www.steve-banks.org/prototype-and-traffic/422-lner-steel-quintuple-sets
I hope that’s useful
Andy
Thanks Andy and Gilbert, that’s very helpful.

Hi Gilbert
Have been enjoying the Saturday timetable shots. With the J11 and the artic stock behind the tender, is that unusual for such a train? Would you happen to know what diagram that set is as I am wondering if it is something I may be able to justify running through Wakefield.
Cheers

Has the bridge gone further west?
Yes, the bridge definitely looks longer from my recollection. Time for a silhouette backdrop then?

You coming to the Epping (Rosehill) show, Tony?
I’d like to John, one of the best shows in the country. Am trying to convince wifey how much of a good idea it would be…

Hi Andy
I am interested in the Mitsumi motor for the J6. I have two J6s with those 1220 Mashimas and the locos are quite underpowered, but perhaps not as much as your one. I've been looking for replacement motors for a while but not seen anything too suitable.
Kind regards

Hope you had a good Christmas John and you are staying safe. Looking forward to more shots of Granby in the New Year, as long as there are not too many panniers ;-)
cheers

Hope you had an enjoyable Christmas Gilbert, and glad to see that you have inspired another young modeller as well. PN and your photos, timetabled workings, roster of engines and such beautiful coaching stock will continue to inspire me for years to come.
As for my favourite shot, it is a close run thing between one of those of the new V2 or the image of the J6 that started life out here running on your layout.
Look after yourself and looking forward to the Saturday runnings.
Cheers

Hope the NCE issues settle down Gilbert, I'll be interested to hear how you get on. I put a new chip in mine a couple of years ago so I could upgrade it to work with JMRI plus some additional detection capabilities, thankfully all uneventful.
Love the pic of the two A4s, but I must ask, can we have a B17 sometime soon😉
Cheers
