  2. The BBC Have done it again....Desmond Carrington went, and was replaced by "Sounds of the 50s" which was kind of in keeping with the former programmes ethos and audiance...BUT now they have brought in Tony Blackburn and the "Golden Hour". Now this DJ Top Of The Pops Style programme is a completly different programme...We have had to re-tune away from Radio 2....which is really now Radio 1 and a half....The BBC chasing the youth audience have sold out again

  19. A "while ago" the UK had "Double Summer Time", when the clocks went forward 2 hours instead of the 1 we suffer with these days? We think that the UK should be 1 hour ahead of GMT all the time, and an extra hour "daylight saving time" in the summer months!

    1. Show previous comments  3 more
    2. Ruffnut Thorston

      Ruffnut Thorston

OK, then maybe just 2 hours "extra" in Summer?

    3. RJS1977

      RJS1977

Nope, don't want it getting light even earlier in the mornings - 4am is too early as it is! Would rather have the extra time in the evening tomake it easier to get our cricket matches in before it goes dark!

    4. Ruffnut Thorston

      Ruffnut Thorston

Ah..That is just what the extra hour forward would do!

Then sunrise would be C5.00am, and sunset an hour later than now! ;)

  20. I have been hiding from the rain....it seems that Summer is over for now. GBL Ivatt has kept me busy...it jumped th eQ as it was an easier job! ;)

I had a layout in a shed a few years ago. All tracks neat and very few rail gaps between each adjoining section of track. Constant heat and cold meant that expansion and contraction over several years pushed the tracks away from each other - large gaps and layout unusable.

      flapland

Garden railway certainly expands but the plastic decking I used :-/ expands even more. I have had a couple of joins pop open on the bends.

      Satan's Goldfish

I left my modular boards in the car when I got back Saturday, unloaded them on Monday when it was 'hot' and 1 of the curves had clearly expanded and lifted the rails off the board.
