The second batch of arrivals were two fantastic Minerva Models 8750 British Railways Late crest pannier tanks.
Loco No1 will become 4698 a Severn Tunnel Junction allocated loco upto withdrawal in 1965.
Progress to date on 4698 is that I have fitted the bunker side steps, tool box, smoke box front steps, frameplate pipe work and ATC box under the drivers aside of the cab.
I’ve taken advantage of the tie up between Narrowplanet and Minvera to buy the two sets of number plates.
Both locos will be weathered to depict locos weeks from withdrawal, I was planning using transfers to replicate chalked on numbers until the cast plates arrived but I’m not sure now as both locos appeared to carry their plates to the bitter end.

After a break from model railways, and going back in time 30 odd years I’ve retreated to my default modelling position of 1960s Western Region steam.
I’ve no plans for a layout, but I am trying to build a collection of locos and wagons that I will be practicing my basic entry level weathering skills.

Bachman step into the O gauge arena, to rival Hornby and their hat bring thrown in a a few weeks...

Dapol have come back to my question about 1401 and said that it’s subject to enough pre orders being placed, and forms will be out shortly.h
-
Ex Wesbury loco, I think there were two allocated for filming, no idea of the second loco.
-
I must of missed the westhersd samples....am I able to change my order?

Totally agree the chap up threads wagon looks great, no doubt it took him a good few days to do and that isn’t an option for whoever did a few hundred for rails, but like those on social media rightly say you work to a price. I hear the chaps actual custom work is very good, shame this could actually damage his custom, shame on Rails for a half baked excise.
-
I wasn’t really interested in the price (£56.50), more make reference to ”custom” weathering which likes near identical on all the models their offering. It’s a quick pass with an airbrush, not really a quality job.
-
How much is the spray with a air brush “custom weathering” version being push at ?

If first decide to do the DfT a favour and take the extension to circa 2024/25, First will have run the operation for close to 30 years.
I wonder what kind of railway we could if had if a 30 term had been awarded back in 96.

So retailers are effectively threatened, indirectly that if they don't tow the party line they can forget being supplied in future. There's certainly nothing illegal about it as they are asking, not demanding; it's been looked at before and it's a sensible agreement. If anyone decided to just disregard it a manufacturer could choose not to supply them in future (they have a right to do so).
I can't see Heljan turning round to the likes of Hattons and refusing to supply them, either way it stinks of price fixing and dirty tricks.
-
Is the Heljan loco correct for 032 onwards ?
I thought they were modelling from loco 072 or 074, I’m not up on my 56s..
-
I’m down for a dozen HEAs, not a fan of the MGR type wagons to go with my 56s, sadly the British built locos didn’t carry Welsh themed names that was the honour of the Eastern European batch.

Really? I have to say this is not my experience, either on personal visits to Blackpool, or by 'phone orders.
No connection other than as a very satisfied customer.
John.
Like most things in life when things are going well the service you get is generally good, but when it goes wrong.....
-
Tower have shocking customer service, their view they are doing you a favour in allowing you to buy from them.

Asked or required?
There very different meanings open to interpretation, if say a retailer decided to continue to offer a higher discount what could Heljan do?
-
Hopefully it'll develop into a BDA type vehicle in time.
-
Being touted at £59.99 per model, excellent value as far as I'm concerned and I'll e placing an order for a Dutch trio at least.

Thanks gents

I’ve read that Dapol announced a few new O gauge wagons at Talford, namely a Turbot engineering bogie spoil wagon and a bogie bolster with pre production samples on display.
Does anyone have any further info or even pictures ?
Cheers

Good. Will the new franchise retain the on board catering, does anyone know?
The RMT have secured the integration of the catering crews from arm length At Seat Catering to full Wales & Borders employment so yes.
Great Westerns O Gauge entry level weathering attempts !

Thanks Rich, id like to say I spent hours pouring over prototype pictures, carefully replicating the weathering from the real thing to the model...
But I literally slapped paint on, wipped it off, slapped a different colour and wipped it off until it looked right lol
What I didn’t realise was the roof, and internal compartment ends come out until I watched a YouTube video !
