  1. Very nice!  I've two of these to do myself ... fancy giving us an insight as to how you went from as new to work worn?

    Rich

Thanks Rich, id like to say I spent hours pouring over prototype pictures, carefully replicating the weathering from the real thing to the model...

But I literally slapped paint on, wipped it off, slapped a different colour and wipped it off until it looked right lol

What I didn’t realise was the roof, and internal compartment ends come out until I watched a YouTube video !

  2. The second batch of arrivals were two fantastic Minerva Models 8750 British Railways Late crest pannier tanks.

Loco No1 will become 4698 a Severn Tunnel Junction allocated loco upto withdrawal in 1965.

Progress to date on 4698 is that I have fitted the bunker side steps, tool box, smoke box front steps, frameplate pipe work and ATC box under the drivers aside of the cab.

I’ve taken advantage of the tie up between Narrowplanet and Minvera to buy the two sets of number plates.

Both locos will be weathered to depict locos weeks from withdrawal, I was planning using transfers to replicate chalked on numbers until the cast plates arrived but I’m not sure now as both locos appeared to carry their plates to the bitter end.

  3. Totally agree the chap up threads wagon looks great, no doubt it took him a good few days to do and that isn’t an option for whoever did a few hundred for rails, but like those on social media rightly say you work to a price. I hear the chaps actual custom work is very good, shame this could actually damage his custom, shame on Rails for a half baked excise.

  4. I wasn’t really interested in the price (£56.50), more make reference to ”custom” weathering which likes near identical on all the models their offering. It’s a quick pass with an airbrush, not really a quality job.

  5. There's certainly nothing illegal about it as they are asking, not demanding; it's been looked at before and it's a sensible agreement. If anyone decided to just disregard it a manufacturer could choose not to supply them in future (they have a right to do so).

So retailers are effectively threatened, indirectly that if they don't tow the party line they can forget being supplied in future.

I can't see Heljan turning round to the likes of Hattons and refusing to supply them, either way it stinks of price fixing and dirty tricks.

  6. Really? I have to say this is not my experience, either on personal visits to Blackpool, or by 'phone orders.

No connection other than as a very satisfied customer.

    John.

Like most things in life when things are going well the service you get is generally good, but when it goes wrong.....

  7. I’ve read that Dapol announced a few new O gauge wagons at Talford, namely a Turbot engineering bogie spoil wagon and a bogie bolster with pre production samples on display.

Does anyone have any further info or even pictures ?

    Cheers
