Congratulations on the trophy!

Wonderful!

Very impressive Ian. The signs and the nameboard really set it off.

I do like a signal box! Nice start Ian.

I think you're being hard on yourself when you say you struggle - they're really well painted figures.
On the shadowing, is it just a case of a very thin black wash afterwards ... or maybe using something like this (http://shop.thearmypainter.com/products.php?ProductGroupId=1)? Not connected with them in any way, but have used it when painting wargames figures.

Catching up on blog entries ... very effective trees!

Lovely work. As for the group on the platform, I was thinking more Mafiosa ... just add a couple of violin cases!
-
Love the workbench ... anybody registered copyright yet??

Well done on the award.
Driving between layouts must have been a bit nerve wracking - hope you weren't out of gauge!

Dave,
Really sorry to hear about your accident. I hope your road to recovery is as swift as it can be. Get well soon.
The figures look very nice - I wish that there were some nice Edwardian figures in 2mm! My brother paints military figures and busts for a hobby, I really must quiz him sometime as to how he does them as the 1/54th scale bust he showed me that he finished a couple of weeks ago looked really good - Museum quality I would have said.

Ian,
You might want to have a look at Thoroughbred Figures 10mm civilains - http://thoroughbredmodels.com/images/10mmCivislrg.jpg
Not a very big range, admittedly, but better than nothing.

Looking very nice - I particularly like the first photo. Need some rabbits munching the plants in the field though

I've got 'First Cut Is The Deepest' in my head now.
-
Apologies in advance cos this is truly awful, but I've now got 'Only You' by the Flying Pickets in my head. You see what I've done there? Pickets ... Pecketts ...
I'll get me coat ...

I'd be interested to know how aerodynamic the Peckett is and what top speed it achieved during flight. Could be a new world record

It's funny how it goes sometimes. I've been using modelling to help me recover from an operation I had in September and it's stopped me going any crazier than I already am ... but at the same time it's become something of a chore instead of being fun. However, I'm pretty sure that once I'm back at work it'll become fun again because it'll revert to being a hobby.
As long as the ideas keep coming for you then I'm sure all will be well.
All the best for 2013.

Let the side down?!? Not having that!
Maybe you just need to go with the flow for a while ... not set yourself any targets other than to enjoy what you're doing and see where that leads. If you put yourself under pressure then you're not going to enjoy it and you're going to be even more critical of yourself.
What you've done with Highclere is inspirational stuff for 2mm scale newbies like me and I'm sure you'll get your get your mojo back soon. In the meantime, wave bye bye to the old year and welcome in the new one like a long lost friend.

Lovely shot - one of those where you've got to have a good, hard look to decide if it's a model or the real thing.
