  1. Wow I thought the difference was noticible when modeling in 00, But thats a loss of 1/3rd of the track depth . Cant wait til its completed
  2. Excelent, do you plan to double end your dinghams? Love the signals
  3. I only hope that I can do that when i do britain
  4. I love the detail and effort that has gone into this layout. Im honestly not to interested in american layouts, but this even wants me to model an american prototype.
  5. After lots of procrastination I finally bit the bullet and started to scratch build a farm house. The interior the exterior The fire place The building is made from 2mm framing card. ( I found it surprisingly easy to cut ) Some of the glueing has been done with PVA and some with hot glue for speed. I probably would not use the hot glue as much again. Chimney was constructed from card with air dry modelling clay smothered on it and carved with a knife. If i was to do it again, I would apply a thinner layer of clay. It results in a better looking chimney when clay is removed to the card level. Thats alot easier to do when the clay is thin, Also i found it gives slightly more rounded stones, which looks nicer. future jobs are to finish off the bottom, I plan to fully furnish it and decorate it and potentially light it up. The top will be empty and dark.
  6. how did you do your creeping plant on the front as well? it looks really good
  7. Nice work, What materials did you use? and what are windows done with?
  8. SCARM its free, and its preety good.
  9. I just read about that in model rail over here ( we get it a while ater you guys here in AUS) beautiful work with the pumping house.
  10. Public transport over here is supposed to be the best in Australia ( or so the transport lectures at uni say ) It can be a bit interesting to navigate though. I took a chance to go and see the live steam loco's in orange the last weekend I was there. It was nice to see a number of australian prototypes being modelled. I take it you 5" is live steam as well. Whata are you moddeling?
  11. love your wagons. what couplers you plan to use on them ?
  12. you could always have it at close to empty. lovely brass work
  13. A few weeks away on holidays has resulted in alot of arm chair modelling and very little time building, however its been good. In NSW I had a chance to ride the worlds steepest ( or so it claims to be ) funincular railway at 52 degrees. Saw a EMU get squashed by a tree luckily no one was killed. The storm that blew through the area completely killed the rail system. Many of the OHL were down on the tracks and it will take ages to clean up and repair. Saw some nice live steam models as well. here is a 36 class. The 35xx had beautiful stephensons gear underneath it. The 59 class IMHO starts heading towards a more american styleing Also had a chance to do a rouch sketch of what I plan to build. Its preety rough That was about it. Now back in the real world will have to start working on the layout again. Contemplating to add the right hand spur as pictured.
  14. How does one check the quatering on a locomotive?
  15. wow, that looks awesome. I love operational scenery that provides a goods service to the railway as well. It just makes a layout so much more interactive. Was the crane scratch built or was it a kit? I would love to see a photo of your truck unloading system as well. all the best Owen.
  16. Hi, I live in rockingham WA. I just spent two weeks in orange on holidays I met another guy up there that is starting in N guage. Regards, Owen
  17. wow. Theres a scale coupling for every prototype. We have those full scale in sa. Well impressed
  18. I am impressed how fast this seems to be going together. Doing a really good job
  19. Wow thats coming together quick.
  20. Random question, Is it Perth Australia, or Perth England?
  21. Would you by chance have any step by step photos of these trees being made. They look fantastic, and seem like a good method vs twisted garden wire. Gives a different type of trunk for the tree which is cool. I love learning to model different species of trees.
  22. I have been looking back though some of your pics on the previous post. I think your layout looks as good, if not better than some of the layouts at the show (I take it, this is the one at claremont?, or have i just missed one ) What layouts did you enjoy there?
