Just picked up an SE Finecast LBSC/SR E1 0-6-0 off ebay, with the etched chassis, but no instructions for the chassis - Anyone know what motor and gear set it is designed for?
Seen in our local garden centre - laser cut houses with led illumination - would they be suitable for N gauge continental layouts? (£3.99 each - might get them reduced after Christmas?
Does anyone have, or can point me in the direction of, a set of drawings for the modified brakegear and spring hangers fitted to the LBSC C2X rebuilds - the relevant parts don't appear to be available as commercial etches, so I need to make some up.
So here is the long haul version of the traveling workshop - obviously has to go hold luggage as it has "dangerous" sharp tools in it! I'm not sure whether I will get a chance to do any modelling, but the prospect of being away for 3 months seem rather daunting, so a few select bits and pieces packed - the objective (and I still have January) is to build a couple of Hurst Nelson open wagons in O gauge, though I will need to source some solvent in the Auckland area to do the assembly. However it may still all go back to the UK untouched!
Does anyone make, or have a design for a shaker for paint tins (humbrol size) (other paints are available!) I guess that it should be able to make something with Meccano (other constructional toys are available!) Anyone with any bright ideas out there? Cheers
Hi,
I built a Bristol Models Jubilee many years ago for a friend - fortunately with a Comet chassis! - and he would now like me to paint it in the colour he remembers - BR Crimson - can anyone suggest a suitable paint to use - preferably either Humbrol (from the local model shop) or a car paint (from Halfords) as it's impossible to get paint through the post these days!
Many thanks
Richard
I've just completed the double slip for my layout - constructed using the ply & rivet method - any thoughts as to how you can test this sort of pointwork out prior to fixing it down and installing the turnout operating units?

has anyone managed to assemble up the railings for these vehicles without losing the top rail and having to add it back in using .5mm wire? asbestos fingers are helpful!
- just manage to successfully remove biro ink from our cream leather armchair using precision paints PS18 Super strip....
- the youngest lad was obvious to the consternation he caused.....
Might be useful to other out there one day!
an HO model, built from a kit many years ago, passing across the workbench for some TLC, after some unsupervised attention from the owner's grandson - the owner also has a half share in a real one that runs on a preserved line in the UK. In the background, the tender from an EBM Dieppe/Drayton kit is taking shape - this will masquerade as 172 "Chichester" for the customer.
I have a length of Ratio EM track bases made up as a short test track and decided to try and be clever and add a 3rd rail for some OOn12 models I have, However C&L chairs don't appear to stick very well to the ratio bases using butanone - is the a different solvent I can try?
Does anyone know who built the model of Thurstaston as can be seen at http://www.thurstaston.fsworld.co.uk/prototype.htm as there is no contact email for the author,,,,
Even better, does anyone have any drawings for Heswall station on that line (not the current Heswall station) - I am contemplating doing a small diorama - just from the road bridge down to the end of the platforms...
It was meant as a Christmas (2015) present to myself with the intention of a display case on the mantelpiece, but has "morphed" into another project - Plan "C" - an Edwardian KESR "might have been"....
A couple of old baseboard frames in the garage and some doodling on Templot .....
Hi, I was recently given this plastic cutter - can anyone advise me on the voltage/current it requires, as I don't have the original power supply for it cheers Richard.
