  1. Thought I’d dip my toe in some modern modelling, ok the class 43 might be nearly as old has me. But it’s not steam. Managed to pick up some old Lima HST, I’ve gone for two power cars and have fitted LED lights and 8pin dcc sockets. Coaches will be added to the HST as time permits. I know the Hornby one might be better but where’s the fun in that.

I’ve been weathering a pair of FNA-D wagons witch are loving models along with a  37

also picked up a cheap fright liner class 57, which I bought a new body as the original was a little tired and misused I was going to stick it in the the parts box, but I thought I’d have a try at painting a modern diesel, not finished but i have surprised myself. And the colour is pretty close to DRS. so a new chassis might be calling for but will wait till it’s all finished.

‘D’ numbers are original spec. Class 37/0 and 37/3 so 370xx, 371xx, 372xx and 373xx are original spec sound-wise. 374xx and above are refurbished. 379xx have Mirlees or Ruston engines so are different.

Thank you for your reply, so I was partly right. Apparently the decoder is on its way so I can have play tomorrow all being well,

sorry I meant test not play.

  3. Just a quick question about the 37 sound decoders

am I right In thinking Original sound is for the original number system of D series and Tops,

Wheres the refurbished are for the Sub class 4 & 6?

Double checking as I bought an original to go in 607 for now (refurbished out of stock) but will go into 258 when she arrives next year.

It’s amazing all these little details that you miss. I often find it challenging to find pictures of each side or end of a given locomotive when looking for a subject to model! D6700 being a case in point.

I think modelling locos that still exist is a double edged sword, has if you can’t find photos you my fall back on guess work and simply copy what’s happening on one side for the other or use a class member. Only for someone to then take a photo to prove your hard work is just wrong.

but I doubt Accurascale have got anything wrong. I have 37607 in front of me now. It doesn’t have the reinforcement bars on the longer vents but if you imagine they did the model has 9 on one side and ten on the other.

  5. Just received pack C I believe, I have to admit I wasn’t going to buy these until I decided to model a few diesels, after receiving 37-607 simply stunning I have to say. The more you look the more you see. I decided to get one pack for now, wow the detail is mind blowing. I did spend ten minutes trying to get the lights to work using a Riga fridge magnet has no magnetic wond is provided, is this normal?

Then I discovered batteries are not either. I think a second pair are definitely  going to have to be bought.

Job well done by the lads at Accurascale

Sheesh, that “I was led to believe……clearly is not the case” post gave me flashbacks to when I used to work in customer services and I had to bite my lip when faced with such unnecessary rudeness.  Luckily these days I’m the boss and have no such restrictions placed on my interactions with the public!

Surely if you were a good boss the restrictions placed on your good self would be higher. Due to the fact that any

negative reactions from a potential customer no matter the seen justification, impact more then yourself. Ie your employees and the company itself.

  7. After play a with 607 currently set has none esu 2/4/5/6 on. F 1 turn the fan side red marker lights on/off

F2 turns turns opposite red maker lights on/off.

when F4 is in use ie ON it turns the cab desk lights off! NOT ON.

the light switch (F0) function tunes the outermost white lights on in direction of travel.

all over functions keys 3/5-20 do nothing.

so no cab light, no engine room lights no roof mounted lights do the bigger central light of the cluster work? Cus they don’t.

dcc controller used, gauge master advanced / and now the old Bachmann  Dynamis, decoder in the loco is a  21 pin zen black. I do have a 21 pin zen blue which might be tried next.

I am a little frustrated with it at the moment.

    Hi farren

Switches 1-4 are off and 5&6 are fully on.  The photo has shadows which make it look like switches 5&6 are half on.

I am now a tad worried about running my locos on my DC layout and our Club layouts.

I love the models and they are, in my opinion, the best 37 by far.  I would love to find out if there is a problem with the lighting and Gaugemaster DC controllers.

Well I’m sorry for your problems, I’m sure, well hope there’s no problem with the gauge master controller. I have run main on a test track with a very old rocket controller with no problems. Fingers crossed yours is sorted out soon.

personally I think I’m going to have to get some new batteries and dig out my old Bachmann controller to make use of the lights.

yes the Accurascale model is lovely, still finding little things on it that just give it the fizz compared to the Bachmann one.

  9. Sorry to jump on Mevaman1 bandwagon, I don’t have any problems with 37607 other than Gauge master advanced controller only have 12 function keys!

It’s just occurred to me, if I set the main board micro switches to dc and with a dcc decoder fitted . Will I get the standard light function with front and back lights on in the direction of running. With out damaging anything?

  10. Well what can I say, well waiting for 37-258&609 to arrive next year. I’ve been reading through these page and wanted to join the party! Having sold some stuff I had some credit at a certain store. So I bought two models sound fitted 37 800 sound fitted wow it’s a super model and the sound is excellent to me anyway, yes yes its Bachmann don’t tell anyone they well never noticed. (800 was photographed at Leicester so had to have it)
I also got for less I might add 37-607 not sound fitted (was just beaten to the last one). sitting here looking at both. Both are super models at 3 feet but 37 607 is just that little bit better on everything.

Excellent work from Accurascale on delivering such a beautifully detailed model at a price more affordable to many people.

ps 901 would be a nice, please.

  11.  a little help required please, I been running my 55005 on my layout. Now I understand a diesel doesn’t have a front and back cab! But has the control says forward we will stick with it for now. The decoder is a dccconcepts black and the controller is the Gauge master advanced. The model runs beautifully and pulls anything asked of it. But lights I have only the head lights on with the light button (f10) nothing else comes on. No other F button f1-f12 dose anything! Apart from f11 which operates the front marker light! Doesn’t matter which direction the loco is set to the marker lights are always on the same end.is it down to not having enough function buttons on my controller or Is it a case of getting In touch Accurascale to get it sorted.
I’m tempted to get the Accurascale sound decor but would like to get the model sorted beforehand.

  12. Well I’ve got a little tired of steam and I’m currently doing some diesel modelling for the time being. I’ve had an itch for a while that’s seemed to be growing. Has much as I’ve enjoyed building the steam locomotives I’ve not had the urge to run them. However I’ve seen some lovely modern day layouts topics on this site and I think I’ve turned to the dark side. I’ve had a few 1st generation diesels ever since I got back into the hobby, but have since bought a couple of the centraltrains 170s which I’ve fitted LEDs lights also bought a Bachmann 70 which I have to admit is a splendid model. Some Accurascale 37s and a 66 on order.

What’s is the idea for the layout? unsure I think I’m just going to relax and enjoy running the models more. Though living in Leicester a layout based on Leicester L.I.P. Sound intriguing it’s never going to be an exact replica due to space but an excellent excuse run pretty much anything. For that to happen need to get in touch with Hattons to offload some stock now surplus to requirement first.

    Its exactly that…

within hours the thread will change to…

    its arrived, then..

    unboxing videos..

    test runs…

if all that gets banned then buying model railways becomes no more exciting than buying wall paper.

Weve waited years, live a little.

next week when they are no longer new, we can go back to being miserable… the warm weathers gone now too.

What do mean no longer new, I’m camping out on the door step right now for both 37258, and 66507dc, ok I have a few payments to make but still something to look forward to. So this could carry on for at least six more months.

That black part looks like a Dyna-Drive clutch, that's why it has such a large flywheel?!

    Rob

Learn something new,  Well after reading your message it does seem to have a little movement in it even when holding the motor shaft still. But I have no need for it so it’s in the box with other parts not needed.

As for the 170s one is in bits the outer cars have oo wheels fitted the centre car has a new motor and motor mount fitted along with the drive shaft also fitted. But the gears on the driving coach wheels are trash, teeth are bent and causing the whole thing to lock up both sets. Typically Bachmann have no spares, but do have the who bogies with drive tower. Which might be best has the ones I have might also be damaged has something damaged the gears on the wheels.

the other 170 is done all dcc fitted one in each car and the lights are also converted to LEDs I went for the Illuminated models kit, the dcc socket helped, that and Express models being sold out when I ordered them.  Will get a second set soon. I have to say it’s a lovely little model running around the layout very pleased with it. Hope to have the second done soon.

  15. Well I’ve had the second one all out the em? Conversion was never fully finished. The drive car still has its original wheels and drive towers gear etc some that’s a little less work. The motor needs its mounting bracket  and I’m missing a cardigan drive? (The stick thing)

the motor that came with the model works and it has a massive brass weight plus 8 sets of em (18.2  mm gauge) wheels are not required. imagine below if anyone is interested in them
