  1. simplest way would be an over lay file all the detail of the cab have a thin over lay made how much is the question, no need to half destroy the cab, I think that may work.
  2. i have measured the window to the drawing it may in prove it a bit, but not much and that's only if I do not mess it up like I did with the British legion, the cab would have to be striped unsolder straighten out as it comes as a perfumed part to make sure it all lined up. not to mention where to start it dose not have a correct edge to start from the window are set to low they are to short, and the width is out too. the way round it could be to have some new window eacthes made cut out the old ones and go from there may be try to pick up a spare cab if one ever comes up one ebay. then again you are half way to having a new cab made that way. i did think of the comet cab, but I don't think its right for a princess..
  3. Hi horsetan it's sill red, but the camera dose not help it is darker. The rest as about to be sprayed with red primer,.I have been practicing with the bow pen and will put up some pics if i ever get the lining right what ever happens i won't use fox transfers again don't like trying to lay one on top of another
  4. the tender as been strept and repainted with Rover Damask Red from Halfords quick pick to show the two colours side by side.
  5. Very nice round house but I don't think my pockets could with stand a complete one or my ears for that matter when the wife found out.
  6. I do like your style of modeling after reading your other topics I thought I'd give your way a go. Bought two jinty's of ebay and the drawing from railway modeller caledonian 439 class so When the princess is done. my next model will be a 493 Keep up the great work.
  7. Cheers for that oz I'll pick some up over the week what would you suggest for lining any in the humbro rage as that's all you are getting in leicester and would prefer not to have to make an order for just one tinlet of paint.
  8. hi Ozzyo yes you did suggest in porting straight to the post first from the PC but it was the more reply options which help so thanks to both of you. the colour is humbro NO 20 crimson gloss it dose look more red in the pics then it is, but with you and horsetan I am starting to think it might be best and start again but first i might use the bow pen as a practice and see how i get on. i was feeling lazy half price paints from model zone and my compressor, and air brush are at my dads until I've moved house. and after doing some work on the valve gear today i have only gone and put the valve rods upside down and wrong side round. After having some pondering juice (new castle Brown ale is the red that bad I've pictures were the red looks almost post office with I am guessing bleaching from the sun etc if the model was based just before a overall & repaint
  9. Cheers for that nick i'll give that a go when I can get on the pc the better half hogging it at the moment. Horsetan Now you have pointed that out its going to bug me and with out a major streep down and rebuild its going to keep doing it. Shuffle's of muttering under breath to the pub.
  10. Has. Anyone hand lined yellow and if so what humbro paint is closest to the yellow brand used. Feeling brave might dig out the bow pen
  11. after using fox transfers i have decided i will stall away from their two part lining, i think most of the lining needs to come back of and try and get some rub on instead
  12. I been applying some fox transfers today the yellow lines on the tender on one side and will have to try and put the black ones on top latter should I apply a coat of varnish on before applying the black transfers or just hope they stay put
  13. the parts have just turned up from comet along with name and transfers from fox. so will be able to do some work on the the princess now the cross bar is a lot smaller then the one that came with the kit i would say the comet cross head would fit in the grove of the one from the kit
  14. Would the smoke box door for 46212 be worth looking at doing for LMS days.
  15. Small list Chimney, gravity fed auto oilers smoke box door, (cylinders vacuum release valves ether with or without the steam pipes), and just because I don't now how good I could build one,a nice casting of the fire box boiler joint. Have I missed anything horsetan
  16. I have sent an order of to comet for the cylinders motion set cross head along with some shed codes today only just read the above posts may have to use some ideas from geoff but will have to wait to the bits turn up. I have managed to lose a bit from the bracket from the kit and hadn't noticed to today so the comet bit are now needed. I will second horsetan request for any castings for the princess royal. As I would like to build 46205 at some point in the future. One suggestion would be Cylinder vacuum release valves for one.
  17. Well horsetan you know mentioned the cross head looking a bit big I was hoping it would look ok when the connecting rod was fitted and it doesn't look too bad. But it's too wide the back hits the nut holding the coupling rods which is sods law. Might try a full set of princess valve gear from comet and a new set of cylinders and hope comets cross head is thinner.
  18. some pic Some tidying to do around the cab and the R/side cylinder to paint as it had to be filled after a cracking it taking it of and putting it on the right way up after that will be left for a week to harden fully before lining before I do should i varnish first, and if so what should i use? I would like a slight glass finish on the main paint, but the black mat to add in the working look I would like if all goes to plan.
  19. don't know if any one would be interested but come across this little tool which might be useful to modelers a scale rule done in both 4mm and 7mm http://www.railroomelectronics.co.uk/Service-Aids-Tools/Tools/Rulers/Product-81570.aspx#
  20. HI Horsetan it dose seems that way. i have just got the DMR products list which i sent for some time back came with a note from Mike Russell unable to help with the princess as all parts in his stock list have now gone.
  21. dose any one know where you can get a snifter valve, cylinder anti-vacuum casting from I've looked on alan Gibson and markits lists but can not see them or do they come under another name.
  22. some more work to do on the platform before that gets any paint but the starting to look right
  23. Fantastic rust affect castle is right a train of them would look great on any layout. I would only say that some earth general muck would help as to me they look clean almost has if someone has washed a rusty wagon. Apart from that keep up the efforts
  24. hopefully this pic will be bigger!!!! anyway the cylinders are mainly comet with the much butchered white casting from the kit, forgive the boiler is looking a bit missy after a go with brass black and needs a rub to even it up. That will be a NO then, B#GG## make that twice the cylinder covers are on upside down
