Hi David, Nice looking turntable, I was planning to use a Peco turntable for my layout also, Are you going to make a start on the fitting shop off the shed and the offices next to the turntable? I have seen a few pics and they don't look too difficult to scratch build also what will you do with the water tower and coal tower? I'm planning on using the Bachmann Water Tower with a few mods as it looks pretty similar. Not sure if i'll attempt a scratchbuild of the coal tower but there aren't any kits that look much like it. I'm sure if you scratchbuilt the tower it would look amazing. Not sure how far off you are with it all but I hope to see some more updates, your work is excellent. regards Jules

Well I am glad you didn't give up Gordon, your previous ET attempts have given me a lot of inspiration even simply the retaining walls (I plan on using the 7mm stone also). love the dark, gritty even menacing atmosphere that you have produced with ET so far. Keep going don't give up as you are an inspiration.

looking great Dave, I hope you are going to weather it a little, I know Haymarket was renowned for it's cleaning crew, but I thought it was mostly the A4's and such which got the royal treatment Haven't seen many pics of the Cicero in 58 so I'm not quite sure how well cleaned it was.

Hi David, Not sure if you were still looking for a turntable, as you look like you are pretty well set on the one from metalsmiths, but as a cheap alternative you could also try SE finecast as their turntable looks very similar to the one at Haymarket. I am also doing a layout based on Haymarket but I will not be doing quite the detail you are doing and mine will have quite a lot of artistic license as I only have 2 foot of width to play with. I will also wait with baited breath for the metalsmiths turntable but in the mean time I'll get an SE finecast. Gilbert, If you are having issues with photoshop I suggest getting a portable green screen or even blue screen to go behind the trees / signals, makes life a lot easier as you could then simply replace the colour with a texture or picture. Jules

I totally agree with you there, not great big inaccuracies that hit you in the face but more like a passenger train or goods that passed through a couple of times before or after your time period. Jules

Hi Gilbert, This is my own personal opinion (could be the rebellious side of me) but I think you should have some inaccuracies, it seems to give even the best prototypes some flair. A bit of creativity a bit of artistic license, I mean why not and as for the suggestion any A4 with a smattering of BR mk1 crimson and 'blood and custards' behind it. P.S. Please don't stone me lol Jules

Ahh ok, I understand completely, I have considerably less room and I am going to have a terrible 4% gradient for it, although half (or more) of my layout will be covered with late 50's early 60's industry and suburbia so it will be very well hidden and i'm planning on having 200mm of space under there (plenty of room to fix a dry joint or a bung point motor). Not to sound like resounding gong but absolutely love Peterborough North, You are an inspiration to us newbies to settle down and put more planning, effort and detail into our modelling rather than jumping in head first wanting to just run trains. Hi Gilbert, Another possible suggestion regarding storage is to create a 'lower level', I understand it is a lot of work and it may be unthinkable cutting a 50mm x 300mm rectangular hole in your very well built baseboards. I only suggest this as it is what I am doing with my own layout. Jules

Hi David, I have been looking into doing a layout inspired by Haymarket station and MPD around the late 50's early 60's era... Your MPD shed looks very nice. I don't think I have the skill to be able to scratch build to the extent that you have. I know that there are several books which focus on the MPD itself.
