Similar location to this photo

Probably taken from where the white Van is in this photo.

The Signal box is now preserved at Crewe. http://www.exeterwest.org.uk/

This photo irritates me; not because it shows two class 40s, but because there is a small headboard on the front of 40083 (the leading loco) with RPPR on the front.
It is obviously a railtour, and the slide mount gives a date of Dec 1977, but having looked on Six Bells Junction, I can't find it.
Therefore I don't know the precise date, or the location.
This one maybe http://www.sixbellsjunction.co.uk/70s/771016rp.html
Looking at the photo on Six Bells it looks to be the same one.
Just need someone to identify the location.

We are always hearing about the demise of kit building, but go along to a Games Workshop shop and you'll find a huge number of younger folk purchasing their kits. So is this problem unique to model railways? One problem we have of course is that unlike Games Workshop enthusiasts railway modellers need to make a working model.
Jeremy
The manufacturers are missing out on a cross over take "Hobbiton End" I think it’s great, I showed it to my son he thought it was "cool" he suggested I make a Zelda train? I had to look it up http://zeldawiki.org/Spirit_Train
People have scratch built some Si-fi layouts see here
www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrwMkG_rPdQ and those like Hobbiton End they are what the younger generation looks too as they can relate to them as been acceptable.
A tie in like this may make railway modelling "cool" OK probably not for those modelling the “real thing” the but their money goes to the manufacturers who in turn produce newer models for us.
The benefit also to a manufacturer who grasps this idea is that the sales would be world wide and not country specific.

This reminds me of one of those +3 connections you’re on the 47 running on time fortunately the 50 on ECS is late into Exeter but your by the window door waiting to glimpse the number..... then the train stops .... your off and running....up the stairs.... across the bridge ... HEAD bag swinging.... down the stairs ... .no stop for a photo... angry look from the guard as you open the door and jump in..... classic....

Two views of "Haymarket"
1st View 47711 powers into Haymarket Station c.1986 looking at the photo brought back a smell to mind of Fuel.
Haymarket always seemed to "reek" of fuel..... looking at the track I see why....
Just looking the 47 looks to be on the wrong end for a push pull as they used to pull out of Glasgow up the bank.. strange...
47715 named "Haymarket" Doncaster c.1996

Just had an email from Amazon to say my order cannot be fulfilled and has been cancelled. Very poor if you ask me!
Mark
Just as likely to mean cannot be fulfilled at the price quoted and your order is cancelled. In the past I have ordered railway books with a discount. They are published, but Amazon doesn't get any stock and cancels your order. Then some time later the book becomes available but at full RRP.
LOL they have cancelled the TTS class 40 as well.... it's a conspiracy I tell ya.....
This is what Amazon say
Hello,
We regret to inform you that we have been unable to source the following item:
"Hornby Railroad 00 Gauge BR Class 40 Empress of Canada with TTS Sound Diesel Locomotive"
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00IJZIONS
Our supplier has informed us that this item is no longer available. This item has now been cancelled from your order #XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXXXX and we can confirm that you have not been charged for it.
We apologise for the length of time it has taken us to reach this conclusion. Until recently, we had still hoped to obtain this item for you.
You may visit the product detail page(s) above to see if these item(s) are available from other sellers.
So they are saying it's Hornby .... ummm ......
I only pre-ordered as it was cheap and free P&P and as you say it will probably re-appear at the full RRP..

Does anyone know the diagrams for the West Cumbrian loco hauled services yet?

I also have a soft spot for 064 but thats because I got to paint the real one at Tinsley while on a YTS course... it came out rather unique but i'm a bit embarrased by the results now!
Nice story I guess this was the result.... https://www.flickr.com/photos/47362745@N07/6340675542/
I got a pic of it in 1986 when it did have its black boxes.
37064+37063 Craghall 1986
Thought it was pretty cool myself.

But do the big boys need to go down the Kickstarter route and pay Kickstarter 5% + payment handling when they could host the pre-orders themselves.
For example Hornby/Bachmann/Dapol/Rapido could host the pre-orders themselves and once the target is met they make the order. It just needs the right marketing which Ben/Mike were good at. I beleive this is the way Rapido currently work it just hasn't caught on over here yet but it looks like were getting there.
The Pendolino project probably actually achieved its target for the costs of production the final missing % was probably made up from the fees + VAT . The only thing that Kickstarter helped with was showing Rapido there was a market.
I think Kickstarter is ideal for the smaller business needing a cash injection to get their idea off the ground.
