  4. Alex is somewhat concerned about the right shade of yellow, on his fish and chips.

Meanwhile, I can say that the model has very much the right shade of yellows, not just on the nose but the slightly paler Stag logo panel. In fact it's an excellent standard of decoration of a sample.

More pictures tomorrow and thank you very much to members of the MMRG for your hospitality this evening. :)

I think someone must has gone to the wrong Williamson's when Alex requested a paint Chip!

  5. I stand very much corrected. Looks like it had that decal arrangement the first time until about 1982. Thanks for the link.

This style with the BR double arrow on the cab side was carried by a number of Class 20's in the mid 1970's until around the early 1980's. 20048 has carried a representation of this livery in preservation, based on the BR livery carried by 20048 around the 1976/77 period when still a VO engine.

  6. Merl off to the Seaside again

  7. Now MD is back off his reconnaissance mission, things will hopefully progress over Xmas as you say.

The Asti is progressing very slowly at the mo, its finding time on these long dark nights would you believe. Anyway, it needs to be done by April 17th, so it can be delivered to the Lisboa paint shop for completion. Hopefully there will be room inside for that sound chip you are hankering after.

Those bodyside grilles are a nightmare to construct! Anybody any ideas to aid construction out of plasticard/plastic strip....

    Mark,

RE:- your side grills for the Asti talk to Brian at Shawplan he could probably do this as a photo etch http://www.shawplan.com/

He will do one off's , but you will have to provide, create drawings, he can also do items in resin.

looking forward to seeing the Asti at Railex.

    Steve

  8. Baldwin No 778 visited the Midland Railex at Butterley over the weekend, attached to the newly restored Ashover coach and Hudson D wagon a scene fro the Ashover Light Railway was created.

Have found some superb photo's by Ian Castledine, he has digitally altered 778 number to reflect the names of former ALR engines, but that's all, hope you enjoy these images:

  9. A couple of mine from the mid-80-s:

    Last-built 20 227

And ex-ScR 20034. Aside from the cabside plating rotting away, showing where the tablet catcher recess was, there's something else that makes '034 unique (as far as I am aware) for the era...

I do have plenty more (Choppers being my favourite class!)... I'll get scanning when I find some free time.

Four sandboxes on each bogie on 20034, think youre right, I don't recall seeing any other 20 like this during this period.
