    Why is Google complete rubbish at finding flickr pictures? (Or maybe flickr has a default 'no-follow' robots rule?)

      I am by virtue of being logged in to YouTube.

      Yes, and running Google's Chrome browser.

      Do you think that makes a difference?

      I was wondering if you cleared cookies and had no logon as that might reduce their tracking whereas I have my history stored.  But it seems not, if I want images from flickr I have to tell Google I want images from Flickr and hope it gives me them.
