Surely it just means the public can use it as a footpath but not a highway

Not sure if it was in Railway Modeller, but such a layout did appear in one of the early issues of Model Rail circa 1998.
I forgot the name of it, but I think the same bloke did a layout based on the Snailwell scrapyard.
Autumn 1998 (they weren't monthly back then) - Ryde St Johns by Mike Bunker. Happy to photo the other pages if wanted

Does anyone think there may be an opening for a national organisation to coordinate a railway service across the UK only dependent on the Treasury...

Ypu will need a power feed somewhere on the largest part of your overall loop. You will need to isolate the 'V' between the point into the siding and the point into the loop - with a 2nd feed between the points. You will then need to isolate both short loops on both sides of the 'V' - with a feed to each loop managed by a simple 2-way switch (assuming you only want to use 1 loop at a time!) You don't need isolate the siding as it isn't continuous - however you won't be able to stable a loco there, so it may be easier to isolate anyway and utilise a switch.
I'm surprised nobody's pointed you in the direction of Brian Lambert's excellent website for all things electrical - https://www.brian-lambert.co.uk/Electrical_Page_1.html

Another layout where the foreground and background appear to merge seamlessly - how do these guys do it?

I would have thought some copper strip, or similar, stuck to your baseboard with contacts inside the signal box, so when placed on the board they make contact with the strips

If Hornby brought out a triple pack I'd put money on them being consecutively numbered.
Well you'd lose over this one - zooming in on the HFA's shows at least 358704 & 358550 (you can't see the other) - http://sawyermodels.co.uk/?product=r60067-Hornby-br-coal-sector-triple-pack-hfa-coal-hopper-wagon
These look like they could be 354248 & 354249 - http://sawyermodels.co.uk/?product=r60069-Hornby-ews-triple-pack-hfa-coal-hopper-wagon

I'm sorry I'm unable to help with your track building, but I am looking forward to seeing your layout develop as I've just moved away after 30 years in the area and I've had many a walk with the dog along the disused branch line. I presume you're planning on building the station roof with all its glass panels?

What? They missed out 47?
Surely a mistake
I've re-checked my stock and there's definitely no number 47 - however that's not to say Hornby didn't produce one.

How is this referred to in official circles? I'm aware the owners of the James Bond franchise have copywrite over things like double-O seven and ooh-ooh-seven so I'm curious as to what you say when you drive it.
I remember when Peugout brpught out their model 3007, they has to refer to it as the 3 thousand and seven.

This thread just makes me wonder how Gen Z would deal with the use of a leather strap to get the window open in the first place 🤔
They'd probably think it's a designer accessory and ask where they can buy them to wear round their necks

Believe it or not that’s a highly subsidized rate (it’s also a flat rate so you pay the same up to ten kg and obviosuly it’s air so the delivery is 72 hours to the USA) and if you can find us cheaper I’m all ears :)
Ask if any RMWeb'er is going stateside (or indeed anywhere you need to ship to) on business / holiday and could manage in their hand luggage - don't know what the sum of internal UK & US rates would be

Hornby have brought out triple packs of wagons in the past though I don't think they were numbered differently.

PGA
Rudd
MHA

I know it will be costly but have you considered having the loft 'converted' into a proper room without the trusses - I can guarantee if you continue with it as it is you will soon lose interest. I've just moved from a house with a similar loft structure - I spent many months just setting up with a 4-track run with 18-track fiddle yard - it all worked but the difficulties faced in completing it were a battle from start to finish. The number of times I bashed my head / shoulders on the trusses moving from one bit of track to the next; getting under the baseboards to do the wiring; heat / dust issues to name but a few. I never even got round to doing much scenery and the running sessions were few and far between as the environment just wasn't conducive to spending much time in it.

Accurascale Announces New Castle Cement PCAs!
in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
Posted
Note this is just a query, NOT a complaint / criticism.
Having already got the Rugby Cement variant I have just bought some of the Castle Cement variant. Having looked through the running numbers I've discovered that of the former pack H contains STS 74034 and pack I contains STS 74041, and these are both in pack W of the latter.
Is this how it was in real life? I'm guessing the answer will be YES as your research is usually meticulous.
