  1. Ronald's has done less than some Villa players.
  2. Still better record than Aston Villa managed last season.
  3. Evening all. I hope the weekend has gone well for you all. I have felt tired all day. Sarah and I stayed up watching Glastonbury until gone midnight. Darling daughter woke us up at 6am so much of the day has been a bleary eyed affair. This morning I caught up on some school planning. The student finished on Friday so it is back to full time teaching tomorrow as we begin the final four weeks of term. It will be nice to get back in the classroom after last week's hectic week on management tasks. After yesterday's modelling I managed to pick up the replacement point from the Hornby outlet at Masson Mill. I am not sure if this is under threat due to Hornby's ongoing problems but it had plenty of people purchasing stuff today. Now here is a question. Did you know that there is a Dance World Cup? Well there is, and it is currently taking place at Fort Regent in Jersey. One of my pupils has been selected to represent Team England. I was delighted to find out, via the official website, that she has picked up a silver medal in one of her trio dances. She is performing again tomorrow and I am hoping I can get the live web feed to work so the class can watch her. Hope your week goes well.
  4. Morning all. A very busy week at work has kept me away from these pages for a few days. I returned to over 200 pages. It seems that ER's has turned into some kind of political forum during my time away. It seems the result has not been popular, can't say I am overjoyed either, but the fact is "Leave" was the result of a democratic vote. No one knows what the future may hold and all we can do is get on with it. That is my intention (but I will keep my eyes open for teaching jobs in Scotland in case it all goes t!ts up!!) Bringing the forum back to the theme of this site - I actually got to do some modelling yesterday. Most track now laid on the new layout project and relevant threads updated. I need one more r/h point to finish the job as one of my current stock has proved faulty. I may go and see if one of my local Hornby concessions still exist later. Enjoy your day.
  5. Or just pick them up from the floor next to his pram.
  6. I finally managed to get some work done on the layout today. Now the track plan has been finalised I have started to pin and glue the track down to the cork underlay. The Peco powered fishplates have been added at the various power points. Last week's visit to the GC model event saw me purchase the Bonded warehouse which will be located by the siding at the rear of the layout. A station building has also been placed in situ.
  7. Thought I would share this picture of my O2 at work on Skaleby West today. Very pleased with the model. It has run well since purchase and looks stunning. I have both Island 02's and hope more will be produced.
  8. Bad weather has kept me indoors and has led to a short running session today. Isle of Wight Adams 02 number 16 Ventnor is seen at Skaleby West. The layout is being run regularly at present. There is an ongoing list of jobs to do with some platform items in need of repair. The main job is to add new supports to the underneath of the main board to raise it to the height of the scenic extension. There is a slight difference in height which was not noticed during the extension build. The point that leads into the loop will need relaying too as it has lifted. These jobs may be tackled during the school summer holidays.
  9. There is now the story that Rahem Sterling spoilt is Brexit ballot paper because he is incapable of forming a decent cross.
  10. Congrats to ROI. I think Hendrick's value has risen considerably after his performances in the Sweden and Italy games. Great to see them gain their first clean sheet after giving Keogh his first start.
  11. Saw you at Quorn, but did not get a chance to chat to you. Great to hear you are still ok for Weston event, I will send you the relevant firms soon. Work has been a bit hectic recently.
  12. Evening all. Firstly my thoughts and wishes go to DD after the sad news about your friend's son. What an awful piece of news, and to happen on Father's Day seems even more dreadful if that is somehow possible. I am glad that you have been able to offer support. My Father's Day did not turn out particularly great either, but news like that certainly puts things in perspective. Amber decided to choose this morning to go mad with a red felt tip pen. Normally she is well behaved and can be trusted with such items. Today she decided to decorate the sides of her cabin bed, the attached slide, the tent sides underneath, the carpet, her wardrobe door, the bathroom door and the bannister on the landing all with red pen. How she managed it in such a short time is beyond me. We managed to clean everything except the sides of her bed but it was not the start to the day I had hoped for. Needless to say her entire felt tip pen collection is now safely locked away until she can be trusted again. Worse things happen though. Hope the start of the week goes well.
  13. Good morning all. Firstly it is great news that Is is back at home. I share the wishes that Dave and Is can settle into a routine and enjoy their time together. NHN - it does sound like you are having a particularly sh## weekend. Thoughts with you also. Barry O - I hope you are feeling better after your stomach upset. Mick NB - it looks like you had a great weekend in London. I hope you enjoyed the Coldplay concert. The new Wembley is a fantastic stadium. I have managed to visit twice. Since they were for Derby County's play off finals I have had mixed experiences. The first visit was rather more enjoyable than the second!! Polly - congrats on passing out as a driver. I am rather interested about the location and the history of your little railway and would love to hear more. To those who are fathers, I hope you have an enjoyable day. Amber was so excited to give me her gifts that she woke me up before 6am! The sentiments were nice, but after Sarah and I had stayed up late last night consuming a few alcoholic beverages it was not the most welcome disturbance! We stayed up watching Sky Arts' highlights of last weekend's Isle of Wight festival. Last night's show featured highlights of the first two days but was quite disappointing. As the festival celebrated 40 years of punk music there were performances by Iggy Pop and Adam Ant who both, in my opinion, need to give up gracefully. The Who headlined on Saturday night but only two songs were featured. Hopefully tonight's offering will be better since it will feature the Sunday headliners - Queen! By all accounts they produced a stunning set. I hope the highlights programme does it justice. Yesterday I got to the GCR show. Sadly it was a frustrating experience. Nothing wrong with the show it has to be said, there looked like some cracking layouts there - I just did not get to see enough of it. Sarah and Amber insisted on coming along and we met the inlaws there. Upon arrival at 9.45 Amber decided she needed the toilet as soon as we entered the main tent at Quorn so I had to take her back outside. By the time we had got back in the rest of our party had sped around the first few exhibits. We went our separate ways for a short while and I managed to get a decent look at the middle section of the first half of the marquee before meeting up with the rest of the party. They had all finished the first half and were heading over to the second half of the marquee. I promised to catch them up and, after a whistles top tour of the rest of the first half, I also went to the second half. After, briefly, seeing only a few exhibits I received a phone call from Sarah to announce that we were all catching the next train. As expected the trains were busy, but we got a seat and enjoyed a fine run behind the Black 5 including some decent noise as we left Leicester North. I enjoyed the G scale display back at Loughborough before we caught the DMU back to Quorn. Again the marquee seemed to be a whistle stop tour. I enjoyed a bit of time viewing the Talyllyn model which I last saw at Derby Assembly Rooms as a child in the 1980's. It is a model I remember well and inspired me at the time. I did not realise the model still existed. I also enjoyed the stunning T gauge model of the Forth Bridge. That was about all I got to see as Amber started to get tired and upset. To compound things I managed to catch her cheek on my metal watch strap when picking her up which upset her further. A complete accident, but it triggered a departure at about 4pm. As we left I must have walked past half a dozen layouts I never got to view and I left feeling extremely disappointed. I also missed out on seeing the gauge 3 "Backgang' model at Rothley. As an Isle of Wight based model I had been very much looking forward to seeing it. On the positive side I did pick up a couple of useful buildings for my latest 00 gauge project. That was the only saving grace that prevented the day being a complete disaster. Since I had looked forward to the show all week, and it had kept me going during a challenging week at work, I still feel rather fed up this morning. Sarah is if to church today so I will be at home with Amber. She does not want another Loughborough trip so no chance of a return today to mop up the other areas of the show. I suppose I should be grateful I got to the show at all. Last night my best mate text to say his Dad had been rushed to hospital after a suspected heart attack. He left at 3am with Dad having been taken into the CCU. Thoughts are with the family. Sorry! That does sound a moaning entry doesn't it. Have a good day all.
  14. Evening all. I have been lurking for a day or two so returned to a lot of catching up. I really hope Is makes it home soon and that things settle down with the family and friends. My absence has once again been due to work pressures. The reports were finished this morning and only need the addition of test result data and proof reading during the next seven days. But the week has taken on a more serious tone. The last few days have seen me dealing with an issue at work that cannot be shared on here. It has taken up an awful lot of my time. It is good job I have the student to teach the class. She leaves next week and will definitely be missed. Today I returned home to find cat number three limping and complaining. He apparently got stuck on the roof of the neighbour's shed this morning before jumping off. Hopefully it is not a serious injury. Tomorrow is due to see us at the Great Central show. I am looking forward to it.
