  1. I have also received a similar letter from Hornby regarding the repair of my green D5512.
  2. hi - alan thanks for the update regards richard c
  3. Just checked the Hornby 2012 product range - BR Green Class 31 is a code no: R3144 - Hornby web page gives no release date. However checking the Kernow Model Rail shop web page they are showing an estimated release date of ----- WAIT FOR IT ....... 3RD QUARTER 2012
  4. Having returned my Class 31 ( D5512 ) with corroded chassis to Hornby early November 2011 and having not heard anything from them I telephoned the Customer Services Dept last week. The reply as to when i might see it repaired was -- very non comittal.
  5. Many thanks for the update. Looks like my 31 will also be spending Christmas and the New Year with Hornby at Margate.
  6. Please post the details of your phone call. I admit to a vested interest in your outcome.
  7. My loco was returned to Hornby by recorded delivery on Wednesday 09/11/2011. I will be surprised to see it returned before 2012. My guess is that at the moment Hornby are much too busy rectifing returned / faulty VEPs.
  8. Have you had any reply from Hornby since your original post? I contacted Hornby - customer care dept with an identical problem by e-mail earlier this month and received a reply by e-mail from them with 48 hours. I am awaiting its return to me its about 3 weeks since it was sent back to them. In the e-mail reply they did reserve the right to charge me for the repair ( Corroded chassis and split bodyshell ) If they do attempt to charge for the repair I am not going to be a " happy bunny "
  9. D5512 is now on its way - by recorded delivery to Hornby for rectification. Will post details later on how things work out.
  10. Have had an e-mail reply from Hornby - customer care dept. Got the go ahead to return the item to them.
  11. A very clever idea - supplied as a kit to assemble yourself and at a bargin price. Well done -- Dapol. I hope the introduction is a great success.
  12. Have been away on holiday in Dorset for a while -- just sent an e-mail to Hornby customer care dept. detailing problems previously described. i am hoping that they will agree to take a look at the problems and offer to do a repair / replacement for me. Fingers crossed.
  13. To: craigwelsh / spamcan61 / royaloak and no space no money. Thank you all very much for the information and advise that you have given. I intend to contact Hornby in the next day or so to arrange its return. I will give feed back as to how things work out. again --- my thanks to you all ( and a BIG - THANK YOU to Andy - for the website: RM web ) regards Richard C.
  14. Should the body separate from the chassis without undue force? I have removed the 4 fixing screws adjacent to the bogies but I am unable to remove the body from the chassis. . I wanted to examine the chassis as the body is showing signs of cracking on both corners at the - fan end. I am reluctant to apply to much force in case I cause damage. Would the best course of action be to contact Hornby and hopefully get their agreement to take a look at it. The loco is: R2420. D5512 from a batch ref: 50 04 loco is unused - mint boxed condition - purchased from Hattons within 3 months of its original release in 2004/2005 and has been stored within a cupboard in a bedroom with central heating. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
  15. ADMIN EDIT - irrelevant text removed Sorry!! i dont wish to turn this thread into a wish list. Whenever someone says that it means they are about to. Let's stick to the 4VEP please.
  16. I would be inclined to send the letter marked fao of a senior member of the management team at Hornby - perhaps the CEO with a copy also to the Marketing Manager - otherwise the letter many not progress very far up the chain of command?.
  17. The best of luck to you. I am sure many people will be very interested to see Hornbys response.
  18. Congratulations to both the N.R.M and Bachmann for producing such a finely crafted model. The detail, finish and packaging of the Platinium Collection edition are all quite exquisit. . The lining on the outside frames is most delicate and the finest I have ever seen on a RTR locomotive. The model captures the original to perfection and the finished model looks even better than the photographs that were shown at its launch.. I am certainly pleased that I took the decision to order the model when it was first announced. 100% happy with my purchase so far, time now to get it on the test track to give it a run!
  19. Mine has just arrived via Parcel Force in a large brown box - have I purchased an 0 gauge - C o T?
  20. Just received an E-mail. Mine is on its way as well. Order placed on Friday 05/12/09.
  21. Have just placed my order by phone for the Platinum - limited edition version and have received an immediate confirmation of my order by E-mail. Was advised that they are due into stock within the next few days but to allow up to 28 days for delivery.
  22. For 195 quid i would expect it to be 22 carat gold. Cheque book modeling appears to be alive and well,I think I will order 10 of each.!! Can always liquidate the excess for inflated prices on E-bay!!
  23. I've just broken into the kids piggy bank but come up a few quid short!!
  24. Bachmann details of the Freight liner Class 70 model were released at around mid-day time? If C-o-T is coming from Hornby the announcement could well be at mid-night, although I suppose we are unable to discount the involvement of the N.R.M at York in the awaited details?
  25. I can imagine it being number 1 on Hornby's frothing wish list especially when Bachmann captured the class 66 market.
