Andy, Phil and others -here's one who's not moaning, never had a problem with RM Web's speed and I'm on it every day. I may not be a prolific poster but I remain eternally grateful for all the hard work that goes into making RM Web a complete success and one I would have a job to do without! God bless all.
Best wishes, Tim.

Will, that is brilliant, an excellent scheme! A very convincing history, not something that you always find on even the finest of layouts.I've been looking for a location which might be suitable to house my Bils,Hals, 33 and 73 and lo and behold here's one! I'll try and make mine a tad different perhaps so it's not too obviously poaching!
Nothing wrong with "Eaststoke" at all but possibly "Hayling East" or "East Hayling" is slightly more convincing?
Many thanks and best wishes, Tim.

And was handy for Charing Cross and hence Waterloo, getting home. But the proprietor was as happy as a dead bird.
Very true, but I believe I remember also being served by a very youthful Ian Rice!

Have to say, probably me but I often find "remakes" nowhere near as good as the original-"Poldark" and "The Forsyte Saga" spring to mind-sorry to say that IMHO,"Watership Down" falls within this category.Sad.I haven't read any of the reviews but judging by the OP I am not alone.I wonder whether it's a bit of a generation thing;I remember all of these series when they first came out and the Actors/voices were all very familiar-with"W.D",apart from messrs Kingsley and Capaldi the names were all unknowns.Like I said, probably me.
Very happy Christmas everyone and a peaceful and healthy New Year.

Manston was retained by the RAF as an emergency diversion airfield, long after they had any operational use for it, until they finally withdrew from there in the late 1990's.
Charter flights have operated from there from the 1960's.
Some airlines have intermittently used Manston for training flights at various times over the years, but this was less common over time as the emphasis on training moved over to the use of more a more sophisticated simulators.
The main commercial use of Manston was for air cargo and some charter flights.
Air cargo operations became quite busy in the late 1990's through to the late 2000's.
For a short time in the 2000's, scheduled operator EUjet flew a small network of flights from Manston airport before going bust.
Later on Flybe operated some domestic links from the airfield, but gave up on them after a couple of years.
The last operator bizarrely was KLM, who ran a twice daily link to Amsterdam shortly before Manston closed down.
Happy memories of flying Chipmunks from Manston on Air Cadet "Air experience flying" in the early 60s!i

Sorry if this has received notice before - was very surprised to hear on a recent visit to the Peco shop that they have ceased production of their Foam Underlay.I'm sure that there will be those on this site that give three hearty cheers, but not me-I've used it for many years with no deterioration at all and whilst it's perhaps not as realistic looking as the proper stuff,it's quicker and cleaner and don't look too bad! Shame.

Celebrity chef and restaurateur Antonio Carluccio has died at the age of 80.
He was known for the Italian restaurant chain that carries his surname and for appearing on TV programmes.
How very sad-coincidentally we're just watching(at supper time!) his lovely telly series with Genaro Contaldo. Always appeared to be a real "character" with a gentle sense of humour. RIP.

Good to see "Saltmarshe Road" back again Pete, always found the original posts fascinating and inspirational (not to mention that superb photo of Dungeness!). Look forward to much more. Best wishes, Tim.

Very many thanks Simon, that's two mysteries solved in one topic! We've seen two very unfamiliar aircraft over the house in the last week- now we know- the A400M trundling (presumably) to and from Hurn (Bournemouth) and the Osprey steaming north at a fair rate of knots. Smashing!

You know, looking back, the 50s/60s were a good time to be growing up, or is that just a sign of my rapidly advancing years?
