  1. This layout has featured in the model railway press from time to time the latest being in the April or May 2011 BRM (I can't remember which). If you have or can obtain a copy of that all will be revealed! Chris Turnbull
  2. Here's another photo - a 170 passing the SPAD indicators
  3. Just thought I'd post a photograph of my layout. Chris Turnbull
  4. Very much so. My memories are of dirty black locos that hardly ever saw a cleaners rag if at all. Even the (supposedly) green ones were generally filthy. Often, the only part that was given a wipe was the number. One exception was right at the end of steam when one side and the smokebox door was cleaned with an oily rag. If you saw the wiped side the loco looked great, if you got the other it was a normal filthy steam locomotive. Can't say I've ever seen that modelled but then it was a very brief period. 5. In the '60s Bury St Edmunds had an 03 for shunting the yard (only they weren't 03s then). Like the J69 (68497 I think) which they replaced they did trip workings via the main line to the sugar beet factory and the like. Unlike the J69 which was serviced at the then extant shed, every month or so the 03 would disappear off to Cambridge to be replaced by another 03 half-an-hour or so later. That would last a month when it, too, would swap over. And so on, etc, etc, etc. Chris Turnbull
