Earth shifters. I have been following the Iceland volcano eruption since a couple of days after it began on Friday evening, c. 20.45, March 19, 2021. I had a trip up the A5 this afternoon and found myself imagining the Nant Ffrancon Valley filled with all that lava flowing down to the sea at Bangor. Mind boggling! Disappointment. Yesterday, I seated the contenders for the No.6 outing on the bus seats and realised that the Dart Castings BR driver was significantly larger than the Edwardian figures from Langley Models so he is being sent back to his former depot in the Spares Box. In his place is another Edwardian seated fella who has his sleeves rolled up so his lower arms needed covering. Unfortunately, he will not be able to put his hands on the steering wheel although, the steering wheel will fit on top of his hands - something to think about. Not that it matters, because I doubt it will be seen once the body of the bus is on. Lady #2, now, looking more like Paddington, really needs to get her act together. She must have something other than the colour of that coat to wear! Marmalade, perhaps? Don't worry, folks! It will all be covered up with the big stripy cape. Edit Something useful. In making some No.6 badges, I found out that I could cut blutack with a pair of scissors without it stretching out of shape, as happens when trying to pull it apart with the fingers or even knife. Thus I cut the driver's sleeves to shape and size.

Shall we go back to my Christmas cake for a minute? I should hate you to think I had the intention of boasting about my cake making. Rather it was to highlight the result of soaking the fruit (highly recommended by others) which turned a not so moist cake into a really moist one. The recipe even came to me via my mum who got it from a friend who got it from somebody else... Boasting, a generic term for everything about oneself, it seemed, was not PC when we were kids, at home or at school, so selling myself in a job interview in later years, for instance, did not come easy as I saw it as boasting, which one should not do, of course!

‘ morning all from red dragon land. Sun streaming through window. Checked pine cone predictors page - rain after lunch! Won’t need to water the pot plants, then. Must order some houseplant compost though. My Mother’s Day plant is growing rapidly (one of those succulents that flower for a few weeks around said time) and is fast growing out of its pot - aka pink wellies.
