  1. Oh, dear! I knew that would be a mistake... starting to watch all those Kew Gardens videos! I was hooked from the very beginning. All those days out with Mum over the years (last visit together 2015) - each turn of the camera and we had been there...up in the tree canopy, inside with the waterlillies, over the bridge watching nesting swan on the island & ducks swimming on the lake, wandering around the palm house & temperate house, following peacocks to get a photo, admiring the garden displays, not being allowed in the Princess of Wales house because David Attenborough was filming in there so sitting out in the sunshine admiring the views! Such wonderful memories relived. Thanks for posting the link. Some truly magnificent & fascinating content. Looking forward to watching the rest of it.
  2. song It may be quite simple, but now that it's done I hope you
  3. Me and my shadow - Morecambe and Wise
  4. End to end v Roundy roundy ‘ morning all from red dragon land. Big mishap, yesterday. I was sorting and putting away the afternoon’s Click n Collect groceries, when I dropped a 4pint plastic bottle of milk on the floor... It split open & milk started pouring out. Fortunately, there was a thick hand towel within arms reach and I managed to stop the milk going under the fridge. Close call. But I couldn’t stop the volcano effect of milk flying up and over the cupboards, sink, cooker, hob, and worktop. Ray, on hearing my “NOoooooooo!” came rushing out and while I was down on my hands and knees, he was transferring the rest of the milk into other vessels: 2 Kilner bottles and a small flask - lucky we had those! After cleaning everything up, and rinsing out the milk drenched towel, I finished getting the rest of the shopping away. But then there was another poop! The bread was not sliced (for the fourth consecutive week) despite it saying it was on the barcoded label and no mention of a substitute on the invoice. I then had to slice one of the two loaves which was going in the freezer. Guess I wasn’t the happiest of bunnies. Hoping for a less dramatic day, today. Fitt and Elfie reviewing the situation. Take care all and play safe. ————- Best wishes Polly
  5. ‘ night all and nos da.
  6. Couple #1 have been getting themselves kitted out but they have been taking their time about it, presumably, because they are being "shaped to fit"! Sir has a new collar and tie and has smartened up his trousers and shoes. All he needs now is those dark glasses. Madam found a black and white striped blouse in her wardrobe. It is a bit on the baggy side so the stripes are a bit wonky but she says it will do! Who am I to argue? She got the dressmaker in town, in the school uniform shop, to put the white trim on the blazer and a black ribbon* on the hat. She is absolutely delighted! They are still waiting for their badges to arrive from the online shop. Then a bit of touching up with the paint brush and they should be ready to go on the bus. * A strip cut from a bin liner.
  7. That seems a good idea, buying a pack of stirrers. The stirrers should all be roughly the same width, length and thickness, whereas my little lot, collected over many years are anything but! Although , this has had its advantages too - when you do want something wider, longer, or thinner - even the banana shaped ones can come in handy, though I expect you will have some of them, anyway! Hope we see the fruits of you work! Love the conversation on Home.
  8. Yesterday, I watched a video of buns, cooked in a skillet with lid on a gas stove, made with only flour, milk and oil (or butter, etc). No fruit. No spice.
  9. Brown girl in the ring - Boney M.
  10. I much prefer: Keep it simple, Sunshine! ' morning all from red dragon land. Yes, we have sunshine but not for long, apparently. according to the pine cone predictors. Ah, well. Guess it is time to think about what I am going to do for the rest of today...that won't take long, then. Fitt and Elfie bumbling along. Take care all and play safe. ________ Best wishes Polly
  11. Rather have non sticky buns like the ones my gran made when I was a kid - spiced and fruity.
  12. I who have nothing - Shirley Bassey
  13. Chicken pie was done! just needed to put the frying pan on the portable gas stove to do the Garfields (fried pre-cooked halved potatoes in their skins). Salad was already on the plates. Ray got our ex-sailing copper bottom kettle on the go now for mugadecaf. outage - No influence on my iPhone.
  14. What was I saying about stormy weather and power outages? Guess what? Power cut til 9pm & pie in the oven - hopefully done!?!?!?!?!
  15. Happy Anniversary David. You could try this, the theme as used at the beginning and end of the TV programme, John Judge Deed - big, bold, and brassy. Hopefully it you will have rights to it. Or this, which the orchestral version is similar and which begins with a slow section. The sheet music is in USD, so you may be able to access the score and the video of one of Wiseman's piano versions @ https://www.virtualsheetmusic.com/score/HL-216479.html Click on the Tab 'Video' - next to the 'Info' tab - below the music score. All the best Polly
  16. The M word progressed as slow as usual but better than expected. Several bashes with the toot on the flute (Yamaha fife) as well, including a new tune I had put to one side while gaining more confidence with another. The new one means learning new fingering for a different key than usual - I would not bother only I love the tune! If I can get past the first 16 bars off by heart, I might be OK! I first fell in love with the key when doing A level music with William Byrd's Mass for 4 voices as the main piece of study. Off, now, to make a mugadecaf.
  17. ' morning all from red dragon land. Sun in and out. It must have its wide brimmed hat on today causing the shadow. WARNING... Agenda for today, apart from the H word, is getting my No.6 bus kitted out with more 'Prisoner' fans. One done, two nearly done, two to go, plus a 'VOTE for No.6' placard. I hope mention of the latter does not contravene the 'no politics' rule on here! I will let you know when the pobl bach are done - it may take more than a day...My guesstimate is rarely accurate! Remember: VOTE for No.6. VOTE for No.6. VOTE for No.6. Fitt and Elfie muscling in. Take care all and play safe. Thinking of Dave's Dad, Gordon S and missing ERs. _________ Best wishes Polly
  18. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - Fab Four - sorry, couldn't resist that one!
