  1. It's always a good idea to have at least one bit of "spare" trackage that you can put overload into, and which does not have any other purpose, other than looking good when empty. I know we're always having to be concious of space, and fitting a gallon into a half-pint pot, but in real life the majority of industry locations have at least one or two short sidings without any obvious use related to them.
