Hi Steve,
I like this idea and it's a really good concept.
You might be better off scratch building the whole building using the card model as patterns to get the proportions and angles right.
I'm looking forward to seeing how you tackle this and the final product.

Just a comment but how do the passengers get onto the platform? Subway or bridge?

Very nice layout, the weathering of the locos and stock is very good.

I have some good tools from Halfords Professional range they come with a lifetime warranty. If you sign up for their newsletter they often have discount offers.

This site has more information about the Sherman than you'd ever want to know. http://the.shadock.free.fr/sherman_minutia/index.html
If you would like alternative military vehicle models to the Sherman tank in 1/76 scale I can recommend these: http://www.milicast.com/shop/home.php?cat=65

Hi,
Very nice atmospheric layout.
I also like the name, it fits with scrap yard theme being both the physical end of the (railway) line and the end of the scrap products life.

Today is the first time I've seen this layout, and I very impressed with both the concept and craftsmanship.
Thank you and regards,

Talking of the area, is Loftis still going on Grimsby Road in Cleethorpes, seem to remember the guy was getting on a bit when I frequented the place in the late 80's early 90's?
Mike.
Hi Mike,
Loftus went many years ago, I'm afraid to say.

D Hewins Models and Hobbies closed at the beginning of this month following the death of Dave Hewins last year.
Article from local paper here: http://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/grimsby-model-and-hobby-shop-hewins-to-close-after-37-years/story-30221552-detail/story.html
Spent many days there mostly buying wargaming and general modelling supplies.

A bund may not be necessary if the site is isolated from the drainage system, I used to work on a chemical site where this was the case. There could be underground containment to protect against spills contaminating the environment.
You could also have a some sort of gauge or other indicator showing how full it is, either a analogue needle on a scale (like a petrol gauge in a car) or a lcd display showing the contents in litres or kgs etc. We used both.
