  1. The railways have always done it. Look at the number of stations that were called something "Road", when in fact they were nowhere near the place they were

supposed to serve Dent station is four miles from the village itself. I`m sure there are many more examples.

  2. 50012 "Benbow" went to Buxton on the "Derbyshire Dingle" railtour in February 1986. It was still in large logo livery at the time.

But in March 1994, 33116 "Hertfordshire Railtours" visited Buxton with an Inspection Saloon which was in NSE livery, the 33

was blue. The saloon was an ex Hastings DEMU vehicle, which I think still exists as "Caroline", and is still in use.

I`m sure there must have been other railtours to the Buxton area. Photos of locos in NSE livery around there seem to be rather

    thin on the ground.

  3. Wasn`t it the guards job to change the lenses in the side lamps, depending on which line the train was running? A train, such as that in the photo,

would have three red lights, two side and one tail. If the train were signalled onto the slow line or into a goods loop, then the guard would remove

the red shade from the lamp adjacent to the fast or main line. If the side lamps were carreied at the front of the van, they may not be fully visible

to a train approaching from the rear, such as on right hand curves?

  4. I noticed the reference to the Andrew Lewis, who had been murdered having a single relative. A young

lad called Robert, lives in the north east, training to be a copper. Ring any bells?
