Lovely picture of a 6PUL (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SR_Class_6Pul), but the pressence of the Pulman is perfectly normal for these units.

Looks like another one, or a 6PAN at the other end of the platform. This would be a Brighton or Worthing working, as the Hastings ones would usually be formed 6PUL-6PAN; the PUL left at the Eastbourne reversal and the PAN worked to Hastings (Ore).

    GPU: 8 RDNA 2 CUs, 1.0-1.6GHz (up to 1.6 TFlops FP32)

This is the graphics bit (GPU = Graphics Processor Unit). Looks like an on-board video card, using VRAM carved out of the onboard RAM. Not very useful in my case.

  3. I took a look today, price vis-a-vis a full spec Gaming Laptop is very good. I can't see any detailed specs on the video capabilities (ie how much hardware VRAM it has). Most of my Steam Games are pretty heavy on Graphics and require a separate video card rather than integrated graphics. I'm running a GeForce with 8GB RAM on my lappy to cope.

We used to have people who set their 'QWERTY' keyboards to function as 'AZERTY', and not reset them when they'd finished. The first  you'd know about it was when you typed in your password, and you'd get 'Access Denied' after the third attempt.

We had one idiot trainee programmer who didn't like QWERTY so he rearranged all the keys from A-Z - and then wondered why things didn't work properly...

Unfortunately for him, he didn't last long.

    A few more Kentish curiosities...

Terrible Instamatic shot of 022, a stores unit converted from a 2-HAL(?), heading through Strood in about 1979/80:

Those were replaced by newer conversions, this one 019 from an SR-style 2-HAP, here at Strood in October 1983:

And a snatched shot on a film that was badly developed (wrong chemicals - long story), a loco which might be 73006 leads an adaptor van and wooden-doored coach S14375S with some more bits of EPB down through Rochester in 1985:

The adaptor van was to enable coupling to the centre buffer-fitted ends of detached parts of EPB and similar stock. Somewhere I might have a record of what the actual stock was.

    1) 022 was formed from the power cars of 2HAL units 2613/69 (10731/87)

    2) 019 was converted from Bulleid-style 2HAP unit 5629

    3) The 'adaptor vehicle' looks like an old SR 'BY' van

Here's a few Preservation era shots of mine,

I also went to the EMU days on the East Kent a couple of times - these are from 2011 when one of the 4-COR moto coaches was in use, along with a 4-BEP, 2-EPB and various MLVs. A good day out.

Canada is experiencing the same; Lytton, by the junction of the Thompson and Fraser rivers between Kamloops and Vancouver, registered a Canadian record (46.1°C/115°F) on Sunday and broke that on Monday (47.5°C/117.5°F) - apparently this is an all-time record for anywhere north of 50° Latitude.

On Tuesday, even that record was history, as the thermometer rose to 49.6°C/121.3°F at Lytton.

I was on the Revelstoke VRF cam Sunday and at the end of the day the yard was full of trains stuck there after having motive power issues due to the heat. There was, I understand, emergency track work undertaken overnight to the west of Revy, and on Monday several early eastbound trains included extra locos that were dropped at the yard to add to westbound trains to provide additional power so the locos weren't pushed as hard on the 'hills' (described in chat as 'use notch 6 instead of 8').

Maximum temperature on Monday at Revelstoke was a relatively balmy 39°C/102.2°F

As last night's selection seemed to go down well, here are some more.

Various, and an honorary EMU on the left

That's how I remember the approaches to LB - Bulleid-style 4EPBs, and BR-style 2EPBs - looks like another train behind the 2EPB on the right...

PLEASE KEEP 2 METERS FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS

I've been struggling with this all afternoon.

Are these ordinary meters or 'smart' meters? :jester:
