Is part of the cause of the Ashland incidents the closed road alongside the line between the two level crossings? Drivers get to the far crossing and realise the road is closed so decide to use the railway six foot instead - and then can't get off on to the road at the other end.
Even so . . .

I would think the ones at night would also have a contribution from alcohol consumption...

................ but who's going to choose to walk fifteen minutes* there an' fifteen minutes* back if they're in a hurry ?
*Based on an average walking speed of 3mph - other walking speeds are available.
It'd not be that much more - as the main pedestrian traffic would be towards the town centre, which is also off to the south-east, it's just a slightly longer walk on a different route...

And if you don't want to wait because it's game time....
The eastbound trains at Revelstoke stop for crew change and block the crossing in the cam for about 5 minutes - if you're a local you know this, but you still see them climbing over the wagons...

Good evening, David. I like the Edinburgh photo’s from August, 1987. All are of interest and I particularly like J9171, of a 150/2 on a Glasgow Central to Edinburgh service, and how a young couple have been caught in the photo’ on the grassy slope too.
With warmest regards,
Rob.
I must have gotten to the stage in life where the trains take priority - I didn't notice the couple until you mentioned it, Rob...

I have the excellently-illustrated 'Southern Steam Operations 1966-1967' (Christmas present from No.2 son) and cast an eye down the side of some of the express trains illustrated show several examples of multi-door coaches included in the formations, even at that late date for non-Standard stock...

Watching 'Battle of the Bulge' last night - interesting that the line that the train attempting to deliver the 155mm guns goes from a non-electrified line to an electrified line halfway through the [sped up] journey and then back to non-electrified line for the denouement in the tunnel...

C8650 - a nice picture of an SR 'Bogie-B' in the usual condition - all-over grot. In theory, the number should be S269S as it is a pre-nationalisation design, but as its lost the suffix I would surmise that the colour underneath is Rail Blue.
A Merry Christmas to you and your family, and a happy 2021.

Why hasn't anyone commented the caption on the video said the driver tried to raise the barrier when it was in fact the front seat passenger...

Possibly one of the pair of diagram 114 BTKs (BSK by that date) that were built with BS gangways for the North Eastern Area to work with LMS stock. Various other Gresley coach diagrams were similarly equipped for the same reason. Easier than using the adaptors that would otherwise be necessary.
Simon
The Southern did some early high-window Maunsells that were intended for inter-company services with BS gangways with Pullman adaptors, BTKs with BS gangways at the Brake end, and BCKs with BS gangways at both ends.

The brakes of the GF 'Generic' main line stock, while there was a slight curve to the bodyside, did not have the flattened narrower section or Guard's duckets, making them more akin to Restriction 1 stock. The coach end gangways were BS-style rather than the SR standard Pullman style gangway.
They were alright in their day, but fall down nowadays due to their lack of detail.
As for the roof colour of the Dapol offerings, out with the airbrush and weathering paints...

Always interested to see how the 'Davemobile' changed through the years. Presumably the Mondeo was the model of that time? Mind you, one of the doors is 'on the latch'...

Some Level Crossing shenanegans in the Paddington programme last night on C5.
A couple phoned up saying the LC wasn't working and they were nearly (?) hit by a train. The RailTrack guy got the Level Crossing techs out and the CCTV from the front of the train and proved the lights were working and the barriers down. By this time the couple were enjoying their lunch in the nearby pub...
Presumably the couple were too bent on their pub lunch to notice any LC apparatus.

I agree that they are excellent value for money. Looking at the coaches Dapol are selling separately Dapol seems to have numbered them correctly to form part of sets for the south western division.
Set 201 forming part of a twelve coach train from Waterloo to Bournemouth, Swanage and Weymouth
2p-014-020 3730 BTK
2p-014-040 5635 CK
Set 204 forming part of a 10 coach train from Waterloo to Portsmouth
2p-014-060 7228 FK
2p-014-080 1122TK
Further information is on page 73 of An Illustrated History of Southern Coaches by Mike King.
The 2P-014-020 is not numbered 3730 - I have one, it is a 6-compartment BTK numbered 3733, the number I had advised Dapol to use. 3730 was a 4-compartment BTK, which Dapol have not yet produced in high-window form.
3733 spent all its service life in set 180, a WoE 2-brake set, its partner being BCK 6674. Hopefully when Dapol get round to producing the BCK, the running number of the one they produce will be... 6674.
